It was 7 AM-ish, me, my sis and mom about to go get some breakfast and what's better than dimsum(s) as a day starter? Also just reminder, this restaurant serve non halal menu.
Here's my take on Wing Heng Dimsum(s).
On the outside of the restaurant, you can see a sink with handsoap to wash your hand AND after the entrance, you still can use hand sanitizer, also the seating arrangement already emphasize the social distancing space awareness, so standard new normal health protocol, check, with high mark.
Now, let's talk food.
We order 13 items (1 of them is drink). Those are: Hakau Udang (Steamed Shrimp Hakao / Har Gow) Siao Mai Babi (Steamed Pork Shumai) Lo Ma Kai (Steamed sticky rice with assortment of pork meats ) Kue Lobak goreng (Pan fried Radish cake) Bakpao bakar crispy (Baked pao) Bakpao babi goreng (Fried Pao w/ pork filling) Cakwe goreng mayonnaise (Fried Youtiao w/ Mayo) Mie kuah Bakso babi (Noodle broth w/ pork meatballs) Ceker ayam (Steamed marinated chicken feet) Sup Wonton / pangsit (Wonton w/ soup) Mie Pai kut (Noodle w/ braised pork) Chong fen (Chee Cong Fun) Hot tea
I will mention some highlights: The Hakau, is steamed enough while the shrimp still plump, juicy and crunchy. The filling has huge shrimp, very worth trying. Fried Pao dough is very good, thin, crispy, still fluffy, but alas the paper under the dough stick too much, i need to rip the bottom part. The filling is okay, not a show stopper good, just ok. Fried Youtiao dish is good, and it's good because it's slathered with savory mayo. The youtiao itself probably shrimp blend with some other meat. Can't explain well since the mayo to overpowering the youtiao itself. Baked pao has it's own sandy / soft "craquelin". As shown on the pick, even with slight finger touch, the topping crumble softly. A bit annoying to hold. the filling is ok, not too sweet (normally this dish contain sweet and savory filling). Noodle w/ broth and pork meatballs, the broth is very light and clean. Light on seasoning, made it easy to eat. The pork meatball is quite big and very porky and juicy, but also lightly seasoned. Steamed chicken feet, is cooked through, very easy to eat and the sauce is very tasty. I personally like this dish quite well. Radish cake, while the outside is very crispy, the inside is gloopy, too soft and pasty. Tasted normal, but the texture ruined the dish. Lo ma Kai, it's texture supposed to firm like Bakcang, this has gone too soft. Too the point, it looked sad. It has Chinese sausage, Pork, and Salted duck egg yolk. The rest is okay, nothing worth mentioning.
The place is clean looking, enough air circulation, clean toilet, no complaints. The parking space is quite big, would say 7-10 cars plus motorbikes.
For a lot of food i mention, we paid 270k Rupiah (about US$ 19), is quite a bargain. Would say middle price range.
It was a great dim sum place, would...
Read moreMy first introduction to dim sum was back in the States, where I grew accustomed to the rich, savory flavors of pork and lard in almost every bite. Naturally, when I returned to Jakarta, I was a bit disheartened to see that most dim sum and ramen spots prominently displayed "no pork, no lard" signs. It was such a letdown! Even the so-called famous ramen places that do serve pork here don’t quite hit the mark—they’re all hype, no flavor.
That’s why stumbling upon this place, where they actually serve pork, felt like striking gold! I was absolutely thrilled. I’d read some reviews that raved about the pork dishes, while others mentioned the non-pork items being just average—and honestly, I couldn’t agree more. The pork options were spot on!
The highlight? Their salted egg buns! They are to die for! Imagine a bun so good it could turn a salty person sweet. No exaggeration—it’s that good! And the crispy pork? Equally impressive.
Now I can’t help but wonder if they offer steamed spare ribs. 🧐
The atmosphere has this bustling Hong Kong street vibe, which adds to the authenticity of the experience. That being said, it’s not the kind of place you’d want to linger for too long. It’s more of a quick, satisfying stop than a long, leisurely meal.
Overall, I walked away impressed and delighted. Would I go back? In...
Read moreThe restaurant has a quite spacious parking lot. The waiters were very welcoming, they prepared and accompanied customers to the table. There's almost no table service here, you'll have to write down your orders yourself, and bring the paper to the cashier to be processed. Most of the Dimsums were very delicious and big portion (mostly 3 pieces per portion). My favourites are "Siao Mai Babi" and "Bakpao Telur Asin". The Siao Mai Babi or Pork Dumplings were very rich in flavour, very tasteful! And the Bakpao Telur Asin or Salted Egg Buns very pampered my tongue, the buns were completely filled with salted egg, which the salted egg it self was so tasty and melted. The prices are quite affordable, but the services are still not good enough. It'll be nice if there is two cash registers, one for dine-in and one for delivery / takeaway, so the customers don't have to wait too long when peak hour. Last but not least, cleanliness needs to be improved. P.S. It...
