one of the best Babi Guling in Bali recommended by the locals. Each time we are in town, we always stop by there for the unique flavor of Bali. Be remember, this is usually breakfast and it is usually gone by noon. Be hurry.

This place is by the roadside. To be honest, people are really nice, but there is no decor and the table is not really clean or sanitized. It is also dusty and noisy as well. However, this does not change the good taste of this meal. The soup is so flavorful and full of spices with pork fat. Really unique and you can ask for more.

This place dose not offer crispy pig skin alone. What you get is what you get. It goes with each meal order and cannot be ordered alone or extra. The portion is also right. You may not feel stuffed, but if you order 2nd meal, it will be too much. It is just right for you to try some dessert or snack somewhere else. Bali has so many things to try, not just this.

I cannot give more than 3 stars not because I don't want to. I hope they have fan and are cleaner. It is really hot inside at noon without AC. Maybe it is for the locals, and we are visitors.

Overall, still a good place to bring good unique flavor and memory home from Bali .

Visited again today. They are too comfortable to improve. Food is still tasty but service is like whatever attitude. Everything is locked and paid first that makes you feel they don't trust you at all. When they give you the change, they give the oldest and dirtiest bills to you, and that is just don't care mentality.

Try something new. There are so many other options operated by the youngsters. they are creative and offering the same thing in a better setting and presentation.

We got here at 4pm this time expecting to have the skin and I got nothing without being told. They said already sold out, but they still charged me full price. That is not the practice of business.

Never...

Tried Babi Guling for the first time, and it delivered! The price is a good Rp 40,000 for their Nasi Special which includes many types of pork from soft to crispy one, and a small bowl of soup with the pork meat in it (it was good too, and cleanses the palate from the spice).

It is generally non-spicy until you eat the vege/spices at the bottom left corner of the picture of the Nasi Special (the vege mixed spice is in between the pork keropok thingy and the cutlery) so take note if you are sensitive to spice do avoid this as it's not only hot, if your stomach is sensitive or you have IBS it may trigger diarrhea as well - believe me I've been there.

For spice lovers, this would be a tad bit spicy but definitely would be up your alley because the spice is pretty unique and compliments all the pork bits. The only sad thing is they only gave 1 small piece of the crispy pork, which I think could be improved upon.

But other than that, a good introduction to Babi Guling! Place might be dim, but service is very quick once you place your order. There's a good mix of locals and tourists at the restaurant.

Menu / receipt is attached in this review as well for those who would like to know the prices of the food.

Parking is limited, but the turnover is quite fast so the waiting time isn't too long. Head over next door (on the right) for some brownies at a shop selling brownies after, they're also relatively cheap too about Rp 25,000 for a piece! They also have takeaway options for those who want to bring the...

Warung Babi Guling Pak Malen Denpasar Bali August 2019

Nasi special for 46 K IDR.

Pak Malen is located quite central like my previous review and also opens relatively early (although the previous one opens earlier iirc). This package costs the upper range for babi guling but it is still worth it due to how filling it was.

The pork crackling is good, the skin is good but has that unique bonus of a smoky aftertaste that's just so great, and its got innards as well. I did get this one delivered, so it might cost less on the spot and may even be a bit nicer since they would probably also give some broth. Nevertheless, the deep fried liver is also good (although i personally could do without the light batter-ish thing they have unique to them) and overall it's just a very satisfying meal to have at that price.

There are definitely cheaper less moreish options if you're just looking for a full tummy, and there are also similarly priced but better tasting (although less filling) options as well.

So really this is a good safe mid range option which gets bonus points for opening quite early, general accessibility due to delivery options, and just overall being quite okay.

We arrived at this place around 11:40am and it was already quite crowded, with a short queue. The staff took our order and payment first before seating us, which helped streamline the process. Most customers seem to go for the combo set, which includes the restaurant's signature items like crispy pork skin, fried pork belly, and pork liver. However, the portions for each are quite small—just one piece of pork skin, two pieces of pork belly, and one piece of liver, which felt a bit limited. The sauces were a nice addition. The red chili was mild, while the green chili packed more heat and had a great flavour. The fried long bean with pork was a standout dish for me—flavourful and well-cooked—but some of my friends found it too spicy. I wasn’t a fan of the fresh coconut water, as they only serve young coconuts here. It lacked the strong coconut flavour I prefer, and tasted slightly sour and unusual to me. Overall, I can see why this restaurant is popular—the food quality is good, though it didn’t quite blow me away. It’s definitely worth a visit, but it helps to go in with the right expectations.
