I visited juwita cafe for dinner recently with another 2 friends. We arrived at 6 pm and there was no one besides us. We ordered the peanut sauce boiled vegetables with egg, tomato chili fried chicken, curry fish and sweet and sour temple with vege and bean curd. For drinks we ordered coke+condensed milk and 2 glasses of fresh passion fruit juice. The food was fantastic! Just that the service took a tad bit long. I cannot imagine if there were more customers besides us. But otherwise, the owner was very friendly and the food was amazing..oh and have I mentioned it? The food is...

Even though i was alone, i was warmly welcomed for a cooking class. Kiki introduced me into (for me) new spices and authentic indonesian kitchen. The class was well prepared and the ingredients fresh. Kiki guided me through everything, letting me enjoy the full hands-on experience. The food tasted absolutly amazing and there was even enough to have a second portion for takeaway. I highly recommend the cooking class! Also I got the eat the freshest passionfruit i've ever had, straight from the tree in the backyard :)

PS: vegetarian/vegan options are...

Woman owned and operated. They support local women and traditions. Hadi the owner is very friendly and speaks English. Her restaurant is very good and she has a beautiful garden with seating in the back where you can sit and eat. The view from there is spectacular. I spent a long time watching the ferries go by. Hadi also gives cooking classes and her son has a business selling a variety of local spices unique to the area like the Batak Pepper, harvested wild from the forest. There was also local coffee, cacao powder, cinnamon,...

We had lunch here and we needed to wait a while but this was no problem at all. The food was delicious and we had a stunning view over the lake. The day after we did the cooking class and this was so much fun. Everything got explained to us and we could cook a lot ourselves and the man was so friendly and helpful. We learned a lot about the place and the atmosphere was just amazing. It was a very personal and good cooking class which I would recommend to everyone!
