Oh my God, what a taste revelation. For four weeks now, I have been trying out the local restaurants as a professional chef. It was not uncommon for me to miss the craftsmanship in the dishes I tried. Often you can't tell the restaurants apart from the menus, what is on offer is too similar. But today I was in the vegetarian restaurant Horas. There I ate the best fried noodles I have been served since I arrived on this island. Here in a special version, because the noodles are made from sweet corn. A dish that was perfectly balanced in terms of taste and prepared with a lot of love. That's what I call soul food. I fell madly in love with it with the first bite. And that, as a passionate meat eater. To make everything perfect, not only in the kitchen is the work done with a particularly large portion of love and passion, but also in the restaurant itself, you can clearly feel that hospitality and dedication are particularly important here. It can be easy to get stuck in the nasi goreng/Mie goreng/ capcay cycle while in Indonesia- with most everything being cooked in palm oil, this place breaks the cycle. With their food cooked in coconut oil, using no preservatives and locally sourced ingredients they offer quality vegetarian and vegan food.
They have a mixture of western, Indian and Indonesian dishes available- mouth-wateringly delicious and healthy!
A treat to your body and to your tastebuds, you can tell the chef knows his stuff.
Truly delicious food, I’m sorry to leave this place behind...

Mineral water is free too :) And now the best part: the food! There are many vegetarian and vegan options, and each time we went we loved it (yes we went multiple times because it was so good). There are vegan versions of some local dishes like “beef” rendang (i can highly recommend it!). Also the indian dishes are amazing, i loved all of them with paneer. The smoothies are divine too, as well as the chai and the breakfast chapati with scrambled eggs. If you don’t know what to eat or want meat free...
