We went to this restaurant for late lunch. We ordered Nasi Goreng Hawai & Ayam, Kankung Tumis, Nila Ikan Goreng, Ayam Goreng(Chicken deep fried). There was no one in the restaurant and the owner cum chef Pak Pulker was available. We asked him what he would recommend his best dish and he said all his dishes are best( Never ask a chef what his best dish is. My bad). Also he was not wearing the mask despite posters of mandatory use of mask. The food was served fresh upon our order and the most yum food I liked was Nila Ikan Goreng & Kankung Tumis. I recommend you try this. The Nasi goreng was literally bland and for Nasi Hawaii he just added a few pineapples. I suggest you avoid Nasi Goreng as its not worth the money. When we got the Nasi Goreng the egg was sunny side up. As we dont eat half cooked egg we requested Pak Pulker to cook the other side also well. Upon our request he made such a grumpy face as if we have asked him to lift Samosir Island on his shoulder. Nonetheless he reluctantly took back the dish and returned with fully cooked egg. The Ayam goreng was good. Please note that for Ayam and Ikan the prices are quote for each 100g. So if the fish actual weight is say 500 gram you will have to pay 5 times the unit price. Nonetheless, the food was good but I am giving less stars thanks to the arrogance and grumpy attitude of Pak Pulker towards his customers. He should be more customer oriented and will not lose his teeth if he smiles more and is...
Read moreI went for dinner at Sekapur Sirih with my parents and brother. Despite it being a halal restaurant, the food was prepared by the owner who is a local Batak cook. We had 3 dishes for sharing. Ikan Arsik - steamed whole Nila fish with herbs that made a nice sour sauce. Lobster Kukus - steamed lobsters served with a delicious sort of curry sauce on the side. The lobsters come from the lake and are small, hence their flesh is about the size of a large prawn. Daun Ubi Tumbuk - cassava leaves cooked with coconut milk, which tasted bland probably because they forgot to add some salt to it. However, we ate them with the sauces from the fish and lobsters so we were happy. Everything was perfect and our bellies were just nicely filled. The waiters don’t speak English well but you can get by, otherwise you can always use a language translation app on your smartphone 😊 The owner came out to chat with us and he showed us around his restaurant and garden. It was a good choice to have our dinner there. Recommended for anyone who wants to try the Batak food without worry about food being too spicy or...
Read moreOne of the best restaurant in Tuk-Tuk. I've been there three times in a year, each time for dinner. Don't be hurry to eat, they cook fresh products on demand, so according to what you order, it can last a bit. However you will not regret it as their products are fully local, tasty and very well cooked.while waiting for your food, just ask for drinks and snacks. The waiter is nice and the kitchen's staff always pleased to make you happy. Little night's story: while waiting they invited us to grab and eat bananas for free as they was ready for consumption. The price remains the same whatever low or high season and it really worth the value. I decided to write that review as I just had my third dinner there, and still fully satisfied. Don't miss that restaurant if you're...
