Best tour ever! The 2D1N tour exceeded my wildest dreams. We were incredibly lucky and saw 13 orangutans and also many Thomas’s langurs, pig-tailed macaques, hornbills and a Peacock-Pheasant. The wildlife and jungle were exceptionally beautiful and everyone at Jungle Trek was incredibly kind, helpful and fun and clearly cared about the wildlife so deeply.
Our guides Kian and Alwii went above and beyond to help us see as many animals as possible and never made us feel rushed. The trek was tough going at times but they were incredibly patient and encouraging and made sure we spent as much time as we wanted with the animals. We felt super safe and supported throughout the trip.
Once we arrived at the camp, we had an amazing shower in the stream surrounded by stunning jungle and then had a huge dinner by candlelight - all the food was delicious, a big thank you to chef Danny! The camp was clean and comfortable and we slept surprisingly well under our cosy bug nets. The rafting back to town on the final day was so much fun and the perfect way to end an adventure packed few days.
The tour company also organised a transfer for us from Medan airport to Bukit Lawang - Mooklis was the friendliest and loveliest person and a very safe and careful driver. A huge thank you also to Rifan who showed us to our very remote hostel on the first night, we never would have found it otherwise!
Thank you so much to everyone for an exceptional couple of days and for taking such great care of us, we had the best time and we leave with memories...
Read moreHad an amazing 3 day 2 night trek with Olky and Anga. As a solo female traveller Deiki was very helpful to organise the trip with. He helped me to organise a private transfer to and from Medan airport and suggested a good guesthouse for the night before the tour. I arrived at the coffee shop late at night and he made sure I got some food and met my guide and had all the right things in my bag for the next day. It was a physically difficult trek but so worth it, we saw many semi wild and wild orangutans, long tailed monkeys, pig tailed monkeys, gibbons and some cool birds I can't remember the names of. Every time I needed a breather they were happy to stop and I was in a nice group with 3 other people which made it fun. There's no showers or electricity in the jungle obviously but taking a dip in the river and waterfall after a long day was great fun. There was one day we had to cross the river to use the bathroom at camp so I recommend bringing water shoes and a headlamp for sure. I'm vegetarian and all the food was really good. We also got fresh fruit during the day as a snack and I'm so thankful for that. The rafting down the river at the end of the trekking was so much fun and I wouldn't hesitate to book with...
Read moreWe had an amazing experience in the jungle with Bukit Lawang Tour on a 2 day 1 night trek. Our tour guide Musa took great care of us and even took us for an extra hike with some river crossings on the second day which was so much fun. The river rafting back the second day was also a really fun part of the trip! And I have to mention the food, which was delicious every meal. We did see a number of orang utans which was of course incredible to see but unfortunately all the tour companies do encourage the orang utans down from the trees with small pieces of bananas and it’s clear that the orang utans are now expecting this and are not afraid to get close to tourists (even reaching out their hands to beg for food). It’s so important to bring tourism to Bukit Lawang (to prevent palm oil plantations that you see so many of on the drive there) and I understand that tourists want a good photo but I hope this practice stops soon so the orang utans can be left to display their natural behaviours in the wild, rather than forcing them to get near to tourists. For me, a natural encounter would have been far...
