We stayed here for 3 nights including a 1N2D trek. It’s very good value for money and the staff are absolutely lovely and couldn’t have done more for us. |The rooms are spacious and have amazing views of the valley. Basic facilities but it’s in the middle of the jungle so didn’t expect more. Beds are clean and comfy, could do with another pillow each. You can’t drive to the hotel so you are dropped off 20mins walk away which with suitcases and the heat was a struggle but would be the same with any hotel in the area, not clear when booking that’s the case (if you have a backpack you can get a motorbike taxi). We also woke up to poo all over the floor from geckos and on clothes if you hung them out. Keep everything in suitcases. The rooms aren’t cleaned during your stay which might be a nice addition. |The main issue we had was the noise. Every Saturday night there is live music opposite and since the windows are mesh and it’s in a valley you can hear everything until 3am and it was like being at a live concert. The other nights the ‘night club’ next door was really loud. Unfortunately this did mean we got barely any sleep in the nights we were here. |We organised the trek with the hotel and whilst our guide was so lovely, there wasn’t so much information on the plants and wildlife. Our only sighting of Orangutans came 20 mins into the trek. If you do spot them make sure to spend as long as you can with them as there isn’t a guarantee of spotting more. The Orangutans are semi-wild, having been descendants of a former rehabilitation centre and so a bit more tolerant to human presence. The overnight stay in the jungle was pretty poor, again I expected basic but it was really quite dirty and the mat you slept on stunk of damp and sweat. Unfortunately my partner also got horrific food poisoning whilst here. Our guide was so kind in helping us the next day and carried his bag as well as his own. The other camps looked nicer than ours but they really only needed slight adjustments/airing out to make them more sleepable. All in all the hotel is nice and a good base to explore Bukit Lawang and the staff...
Read moreTaking advantage of the customer in dishonest ways starts here from the images of the rooms you see online and continues throughout your stay.
There is no such thing as Deluxe room. They just sell you the basic room that is now falling apart at double price, if you are stupid enough to take it. There is no view but over broken roofs of the village, don't bother about all that greenery in the photos, those are just lucky angles.
No internet in the faraway hilltop rooms. No air fan - just naked cords hanging from the ceiling. No light at night on the steep slippery stairs going hundreds of meters into the hill - break your leg and stay in our hotel for longer!
This "marketing geniuses" will sell you plain rice for 70 idr if you are not paying attention.
They sell coffee at more than double price of other restaurants claiming "they support local family coffee business". When I asked more information about this "family business" they showed me a coffee package from Morrisons - a well known British(!) grocery, thinking I wouldn't figure it out. So much for sustainability, let alone supporting local farmers, innit?
Lies over lies over lies. Truly sorry for these human beings, they lost last bits of dignity chasing an extra penny.
And after all the cheating exposed, they still expect that one would eat at their restaurant and trek with their unlicensed guides. Adorable. God bless...
To sum up - they consider that a customer is a dumb sheep that can be cheated and lied to in every way. If you can make fun of such a treatment - get their cheapest room and don't pay for any surplus. Food is better and cheaper elsewhere. Trekking guides should show you their park licence before opening...
Read moreWe had an unbelievable experience here especially for the price. First of all Abdul, our driver met us at the airport with a smile great music, a Rastafarian hat, and a wonderful attitude. You would think a three point 5 Hour Dr. from the airport would be boring but it was absolutely not the scenery and the Indonesian rule life passing by your eyes is something you almost cannot turn your eyes away from it’s absolutely beautiful.||Once we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised by the little town that the hotel sits in. Very cute streets, extremely friendly people, lots of lovely kittens in different peoples store, fronts and restaurants. And most importantly monkeys everywhere. ||The next day after arrival, we woke up with monkeys on a roof, and it was so much fun. They sat in a tree next to our room (we stayed in the penthouse) and just munched on the fruits in the tree, it was so much fun||But really, the most important part came when my son became sick mono our guide spent the entire day with us rearranging everything. He was more than patient with us took us to the medical clinic and really helped smooth a difficult procedure. We were finally able to see the orangutans the next day and it was a life-changing experience. I highly...
