We recently chose Huge for a company meeting, drawn by its promising menu and reputed ambiance. However, our experience was marred by issues that should be addressed for the restaurant to reach its full potential.
Upon arrival, we were met with a rather unwelcoming greeting from the security personnel. Instead of a courteous welcome, we were asked, "Mau ngapain?" which translates to "What do you want?" This seemed to stem from a preconceived notion about us as locals, which was disheartening. Such an approach does not reflect well on the establishment and creates an uninviting atmosphere.
We arrived just before lunchtime, hoping to enjoy their renowned sushi. Unfortunately, it wasn't available yet. This was understandable given the timing, and we have no complaints about this aspect.
However, our disappointment deepened as we left the restaurant. We overheard the security personnel making a disparaging remark to his friend, implying that we couldn't afford the meal ("gak punya uang pasti"). This comment was not only offensive but also entirely unacceptable.
We strongly recommend that Huge take a closer look at their security staff and their approach to customer interactions, particularly with local patrons. It's crucial to foster an environment where all guests feel welcome and respected, regardless of their background.
That said, it's important to note that this review is not intended to jeopardize the security guard's employment. We understand that he, like many others, relies on his job to support his family. Our hope is that this feedback will encourage the restaurant management to provide additional training on customer service and professionalism.
Huge has the potential to be a fantastic dining destination. By addressing these issues, they can ensure a more positive and inclusive experience for all...
Read moreJust sharing my recent dining experience at Huge Restaurant in Bali.
We were walking near our villa when we came across a massive, eye-catching restaurant and decided to give it a try. Just the night before, we had dinner at a nearby place on the same street — Rustica Italiana. The food there was delicious, and the lovely owner was very welcoming. We weren’t charged any service or tax fees, and it felt like a genuine, warm experience.
In contrast, our dinner at Huge Restaurant was disappointing and overpriced. We ordered 2 main courses, 1 entrée, 1 dessert, 2 kura kura beers, and 2 cocktails. The total bill came to 1,530,650 IDR (about $144 - 150 AUD).
Here’s the breakdown: • Subtotal: 1,265,000 IDR • Service charge (10%): 126,500 IDR • Tax (11%): 139,150 IDR
On top of that, one extra beer was added to our bill (about 85,000 IDR) — which we didn’t order. I was tired from the day’s trip and didn’t notice until after paying.
The staff seemed friendly at first, even asking where we were from (Australia), but I left feeling ripped off. For that price, we could’ve had the same meal twice back home — and without surprise charges.
I still have the receipt, but unfortunately, I haven’t been able to post this review directly on their page. So I’m sharing it here for anyone planning to visit.
Bottom line: Don’t fall for fake reviews. Our experience at Huge Restaurant felt like a scam. Be careful where you dine in Bali.
Thanks...
Read moreGood Place,,, BUT Unfortunately a few mistakes. I would like to take the opportunity to give them constructive criticism. Hopefully they listen to make this place better, because it can be. Beautiful staff, very respectful & extremely polite, but a little inexperienced. 1st) Way too bright as soon as you walk in (needs to be little dimmer at night. 2nd) As soon as I opened the menu at night for dinner the first page says Breakfast (need a seperate dinner menu or remove the front page) Not a good good if they trying to be semi classy. 3rd) The menu was quite wrong. The sashimi & sushi rolls were ok, but were the rest of the menu was CONFUSED. They certainly didn’t match the Japanese theme. Hummus Cannoli, Pasta with weird fillings & Falafel salad is not what you would expect. The menu needs to be re done completely. I would definitely just stick to Japanese. Bali does need good Japanese venues & this good definitely be it. I ordered a $750.00 AU bottle of 2010 Dom Perignon & some sushi + sashimi then had to leave because the rest of the menu wasn’t good. It’s a shame because I was looking forward to a good night out. The last thing on the way out was there were motorbike helmets just sitting all over the main bar as you walk in. I HOPE THE VENUE MAKES SOME GOOD CHANGES & I can return on my next Bali...
