Swasana by Temata
is the perfect place if you're looking for a relaxing atmosphere with high-quality experience. From the outside, it looks simple and modern, but once you step inside, you’re greeted by a warm ambiance that invites comfort. The interior design is very Instagram-worthy, with a mix of neutral and brown tones, green plants on the stairs, and soft lighting that adds to the cozy feel.
The menu at Swasta by Temata offers a variety of dishes that are sure to please your taste buds, from traditional Western-style snacks to hearty main courses.
For coffee lovers, they serve a variety of delicious coffee options, from the lemongrass blend that combines coffee and herbal flavors, to stacolla (iced coffee with milk), americano, cappuccino, and refreshing iced lattes. If you prefer tea or sweet drinks, there are also plenty of trendy beverage options that are equally delicious.
The food here is just as impressive. For breakfast, they have the Temata burger or toast options. For lunch or dinner, you can try the creamy carbonara pasta or a steak with a special sauce that will leave your taste buds dancing. The chicken rice is also a must-try. All dishes are presented with attractive plating and satisfying portion sizes.
What makes it even more comfortable is the calm atmosphere. Despite being a popular spot, the layout is very efficient, so it never feels overcrowded.
The music playing is also just right—not too loud—so you can enjoy your time relaxing or chatting without any interruptions.
The facilities here are top-notch. Fast Wi-Fi, plenty of power outlets for charging your devices, and friendly service make the dining experience even more enjoyable. While the prices are a bit higher compared to regular spots, they’re worth it for the quality and comfort you get.
Overall, Swasta by Temata in Kaliurang is the perfect choice for anyone looking for a great place to eat and relax, whether you're gathering with friends, working, or just enjoying some time alone or with family. It’s ideal for a laid-back lunch, a dinner date, or just hanging out with friends.

Read moreBrutally honest review, I had very high expectations for this place because it serves Middle Eastern cuisine. And I know how they’re supposed to taste like because I’ve grown up in the Middle East.
For the sides, I ordered their Hummus with Lamb, Creamy Aglio con Scampi for my main course and the Kunafeh for dessert.
Hummus didn’t taste like hummus. It was too soft and had a condiment which made the hummus tastes “weird”. For a 67k hummus wasn’t even worth it. It’s still edible but I wont be putting that on my table anymore if its not improved. The mozzarella on top of the khobus was unnecessary. I thought the lamb would be complimentary but it wasn’t even close to making it taste better.
Amongst all the three I ordered, the Kunafeh was probably the worst one. Since when does a Kunafeh have a slice of strawberry on top? Let alone the burnt corners which made it bitter. The cheese didn’t even melt like it supposed to. And the texture wasn’t it. It was like a pancake for the firmness. Honestly I thought maybe it is a pancake not a Kunafeh. I wish I was lying but Im typing this whilst Im fasting on Ramadhan.
I think the only good dish I ordered was the Creamy Aglio con Scampi pasta. It’s spicy creamy and the noodles are well cooked. The shrimp scampi is well cooked too. Even my friend ordered another type of paste and it tastes good as well.
There’s actually many more to type in because I had the iftar with my other friends and they probably has something to say too about the food. Please improve especially the dishes I mentioned. Its not worth for the value.
The services are good, waitresses are fast to respond, food did come on time and the place/ambience wise is good too. Just like any other properly thought out interior.
This is indeed my first time dining in here. And of course every experience varies. I didn’t order any of the middle eastern rice dishes because I was sceptic enough about it.
If you ask me whether I should recommend Swasana to my friends and family? No. Until I hear the hummus and kunafeh is improved.
Thanks. Hope my review helps to improve...
Read moreOne of the best menus in Jogja: we especially enjoyed the Middle Eastern food. Everything was delicious and used high quality ingredients. Excellent service. Even the prices seemed pretty fair (except the 100k tea, which we got and couldn't understand the value of). Excellent location up in Jakal where a lot of great eateries have been opening up recently. The restaurant looks great and I highly recommend it for any occasion: there are various seating configurations and options. There was even a live band and free "tajkil" for Ramadan. Swasana is truly an excellent restaurant and I commend the management for pulling it off.
So why do I only give 3 stars if everything was perfect? One reason: Somebody in our group ordered a dish which comes with bread (according to Swasana's own menu). The dish came without the bread. When we complained to the waitress, she informed us that the restaurant has decided to remove the bread from this dish and haven't updated the menu yet. This is poor customer service and frankly, felt like a scam. The customer must never be at a loss due to some mistake/shortcoming by the management.
Will I visit Swasana again? Absolutely. It is one of the best restaurants in Jogja. (And I hope management remedies this issue which...
