The atmosphere and ambiance feel like stepping into ancient China. Many carvings and paintings from that era.

My wife and I ordered several dishes. Nasi Lemak with Chicken Curry Rice Overall, it tasted good, but the rice was a bit dry. The portion wasn't too big. If I may suggest, the chicken curry could be served together with the rice, so the curry sauce can soak into the rice. The sambal sauce lacked Malay authenticity. Ini salah satu kafe yang cukup legend di Surabaya. Tampilannya oldskool tanpa pretensi, emang udah kaya gitu adanya. Vibe pecinannya kentel banget, karena emang udah selayaknya seperti itu. Kalo dari sejarahnya, kafetien yang berarti kedai kopi, adalah salah satu bentuk usaha para migran Cina di Malaysia dan Singapura yang ingin meraup pasar para kolonialis pada saat itu. Alhasil, legenda kafetien/kopitiam pun dimulai.

Kafetien 88 ini ada di beberapa lokasi di Surabaya, namun yang di Jagalan inilah yang paling dapet vibe aslinya. Menu yang ditawarkan pastinya ala-ala Melayu dan Singapura. Ada kopi, teh tarik, roti kaya, nasi lemak, dsb. Benernya saya pingin merasakan bulletproof coffee, tapi sayangnya ga saya temukan di menu. Mungkin dinamai dengan sebutan khusus di sini.

Saya order kopi specialtynya mereka dan roti kaya butter. Emang ga neko-neko sih rasanya, cukup kopi dengan tambahan SKM. Manisnya pas, kadar kopinya juga cukup. Roti kaya butternya enak, tapi untuk ukuran saya, selai kayanya perlu agak ditambahin lagi. Aroma butternya enak banget, jadi penasaran mereka pake butter merk apa, supaya bisa saya repro di rumah.😁

Secara harga, buat saya sih cukup aman. Orderan saya tadi hanya perlu merogoh kantong 34 ribuan saja. Bawa pacar ke sini masih ok banget sih, pacaran dengan vibe chinese heritage yang kental.

Buat kamu yang merokok, aman kok, bisa merokok di space ruangan depan. Ada AC di dalam, jadi ngopi dan merokok masih terasa nyaman.
