Monopole Coffee Lab — Restaurant in Surabaya

I feel like it's a given that Monopole would have good coffee having tried another one of stores so can't fault it on that. One could easily miss this due to it's location and adjacent buildings.

I think this store is a lot more conducive to long hours of working with ample comfortable seating with great staff and atmosphere adding to that too.

My only qualm was with the food. Had the monopole breakfast which is comparable to a full western breakfast - sausage, bacon, eggs(2 ways), sourdough(?), tomato and mushrooms. The bread was alright but tbh didn't taste overly sourdough(y) but that's perhaps to do with a underdeveloped starter? The tomato was ok, it was a tomato. It was warm and sliced in half. TBH would've been better if it was grilled and charged on one side. My main disappointment was with the poached eggs. It was served in one of those small sauce dipping dishes and was floating in water with the white mostly separated. Dear Team Monopole,

I’d like to report my recent experience here. I’m quite surprised that your service is downgrading compared to the last time I went here.

I visited your place to get a cold latte and have little rest with a quick smoke break with a friend. It was 9 PM which I still had 30 minutes to chill before I left. However, your server seemed so pissed with me and my friend’s presence.

The server in charge named Safitri, had some attitude to fix. I appreciated her little initiative to turn on the fan and put the ashtray on our table. We thanked her for doing that, but she didnt seem to care.

Next, she served our drink and I thanked her again to show respect. I said it once, and she didnt answer, so I repeated myself in order she didnt hear my voice. Then, she replied it ominously “ya!” with her bitchy attitude.

I didnt know what was going on to her but I hope your management didnt do her wrong that might cause her behave that way to customer.

I always come to monopole, but today I forgot my wallet and my phone died. I tried to charge it to use OVO but the charger did not work. I tried to leave my KTP and return with the money but they did not trust me. My wife and I come to monopole once a week and we are loyal customers. We love the place, and the food has always been great. It has great flat white and a great breakfast menu, but if monopole does not trust me to langsung return with the money, I can not trust monopole. I will miss the food and coffee, but where I come from, loyal customers are trusted. I understand if it was my first time at monopole. No one can trust a stranger.
