I ate there last night, the food was very disappointing that I wouldn't waste my time or money eating it. I ordered Gamjatang - pork bone stew - and got a watery bean sprout soup. Sure, there were a lot of pork bones, but I could barely taste the "meatiness"... It's almost as though the chef boiled the pork bones 3x and discarded the rich broth. What is left is a poor watery substitute with lots of gochugaru dregs and bean sprouts, but it was really bland... not what I expected of korean food and Myoung Ga with its many rave reviews. I complained to my waiter, he immediately brought it back to the kitchen and asked the chef to "fix" it. This time the gamjatang was very salty with overpowering smell of black pepper. I wonder if the chef tasted his/her cooking, whether s/he was on acid or his/her taste buds have gone numb. My guess is, the chef is muslim and s/he doesn't want to taste food that has pork in it / "haram". But his/her seasoning skill and gauging technique hasn't improved with experience !! If that's the case, s/he shouldn't work in a kitchen where s/he ocassionally has to cook meal with pork. It's very UPSETTING because it's quite expensive - Rp.320,000 and it's a very BIG family portion that I expected to enjoy for several meals. It's a WASTE of good food materials AND AN INSULT TO THE ANIMAL WHO SACRIFICED ITS LIFE TO FEED US !! I used to enjoy the food in Myoung Ga, but for the past year or so, the quality of meat and ingredients have declined sharply. Many of my friends who used to eat there several times a month also said that now Myoung Ga is using cheaper meat, and it's evident in the food... but they're covering the lack of quality with lots of sauces and condiments. With increased competition - notably from GOJUMONG and MAGAL close by, they chose to compete on PRICE basis. Their food prices haven't gone up much from a few years ago, BUT the quality of meat have declined AND they are now serving much smaller portion of not very good banchan and namul. It's understandable since the side dishes are complimentary, BUT NOW I WOULD RATHER SPEND MY MONEY AND...
Read moreCame to this place 2 times few years ago, and it was a great experience . But , now it's a terrible experience and I'm not thinking to going back here anymore , reason :
Need to wait for 15 minutes or more for menu after got seated
No greeting from the beginning to end
The stove smell terribly reeks , event when the stove already closed after the grilling finished . The reeks smell still can be smelled clearly and it really ruined the eating experience
I need to call for the waiter to give out the dessert , the service is slow and helpful , nor event responsive . The waiter didn't directly serve the dessert after we finished our meal , probably won't serve one if we didn't ask for it
The foods might have large portion , but wasn't taste great , price is more pricier compare to the competitors , yet didn't represent the value or quality
Side dish very few , kimchi color was pale , not spicy , not sour . Terrible terrible Side dishes choice and quality
In conclusion : With so many new choice of Korean restaurant in Surabaya , this place definitely not the one that is competitive and worth for visiting . It might have good in the past , but today it's has lost value both in product and service . I was really disappointed during the visit . What a waste of...
Read moreExtremely unsanitary place. First we wanted to take the floor seating, but when I almost sat down I saw a small cockroach scurrying out. Then we changed to the opposite table and the exact same thing happened, more cockroach. I've lost my appetite by then, but we decided to move to the regular table seating area. Casually mentioned to one of the male staff about how dirty this place must be with all those cockroaches around but his reaction said it all. They must all be aware of it and decided to just leave it be.
Mid meal, I looked to the side and there was another small cockroach climbing into one of the side dishes on our table. We immediately asked for the bill and promptly left the premise.
This was the first time in years for me visiting this place and overall the food and service, not to mention HYGIENE, was severely lacking. Tables weren't cleaned properly as I could still see some leftover grease marks on top. Quality has clearly gone downhill over the years. Pricing and portion really need some adjustments too.
You best believe that I will never ever set foot in this restaurant again. Please consider shutting down your restaurant for a while, call PEST CONTROL and do some...
