HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Both for food and for the tours provided by Iqbal!
Stumbled upon Warung Iqbal by chance and turned out to be the best thing about Tetebatu and made our time there really special!
The food cooked by Iqbal’s wife is amazing and the vegetable spring rolls have to be some of the best we’ve ever had!
We did the Panorama walking tour w/ Iqbal which ended up going on for 7 hours! It was so interesting and we learnt so much about the local area, the traditions and their way of life. The amount of different fruits/vegetables & other products grown there is amazing! Iqbal is really knowledgeable about all things Tetebatu, his english is really good and in general just very friendly! He offers lots of other tours which we didn’t get a chance to do but I’d imagine they will be just as good!
Iqbal also met up with us at various other points during our stay and showed us other little bits (cafes, shops, other places of interest) of Tetebatu that we wouldn’t have found on our own. Made us feel right at home and part of the family!
Look forward to seeing Iqbal and his family on our next visit to...

I had a great time exploring Tetebatu fields and spices together with Iqbal. It was an informative and entertaining walk. Now, I will look differenttly at many plants knowing, which fruit grows on them and for what are they used. I learned a lot not only about various plants but also about the local life, traditions and beliefs. I also appreciated Iqbal not being pushy about offering his services as well as being respectful and not making ambiguous comments. He has a big variety of tour options outside of the most common ones like catching grasshoppers and making meals out of them and many more.
I also enjoyed the food at the restaurant served by him and his wife. I had there dinner twice and the food was always tasty and portions so big that could satisfy a huge hunger.
I wish Iqbal and his family all the best and the business to continue to thrive. I will be happy to visit next time I'm...
Read moreLoved our experience at Warung Iqbal. The coconut process was amazing and well guided. It was very hands on - we were able to open the coconuts ourselves with a machete, grate the coconut flesh, hand press it into coconut milk, then cook down the milk into oil. We wanted to do everything by hand and they were so patient with us, but you can speed up the process having them help you more and using machines for parts of the process. The coconut oil is so fragrant and sweet compared to the store. We also thoroughly enjoyed making coffee the traditional way with rice and beans roasted and grinded to make a delicious blend to take with us. The food is also delicious and incredibly fresh, getting the meat directly from coconuts for certain dishes, and we loved the sambal. Would recommend for anyone to have this experience in their family home as well enjoying the conversations and generosity they offered us that we will remember...
