The owner is lovely. Unfortunately, our Lalapan chicken wasn’t cooked properly and was still bloody, so they had to take it back and recook it. At least they added some extra sauce to our plate as a small apology. The food itself was okay – the chocolate milkshake was good, but the juice was far too sweet to drink. Prices are quite good though.
BUT we got food poisoning afterwards (most likely from the bloody chicken we had already taken a bite from, or from the meal in general). I had just a waffle later that day, and about 12 hours after eating there I started to feel really sick. A few hours later I was vomiting and had to run to the toilet several times. My partner started a few hours after me with the same symptoms. It was an absolutely horrible experience – we felt terrible even on our flight to Auckland two days later.
For the first one to two weeks afterwards we couldn’t eat properly, mostly felt sick after meals and had heartburn all the time. Really annoying.
So unfortunately, I can’t recommend this place. It might have just been bad luck, but it was enough to ruin our last two days in Lombok and the first weeks...
Read moreOh. My. Goodness. The meal/experience we just had here was nothing short of incredible. As I'm not too familiar with native Lombok cuisine, our waiter made suggestions and absolutely nothing disappointed. We had the gulai beef (his favourite) the yellow spices island fish (which he suggested more than the mahi-mahi), the spring rolls, fried pineapple, coffees and two large Bintang. It was all so fresh, delicious and obviously made with pride and love. The beer was cheaper than the gas station convenience store next door! It was less than a quarter of the price of the resort restaurants across the street, and while you don't get a view of the ocean/beach, you get a warm family-run bistro that has delicious food. I would post pictures of our food, but we ate it...
Read moreThis is a real local place run by a gorgeous family. We asked a staff member in our hotel to recommend a local place and he suggested this. I'm a little wary of local spots due to fear of food poisoning but this placed was very clean. We asked what fish was fresh and he brought out prawns and what we think was sea bream. It was so fresh so we got it cooked on coals with rice, stir fried veg and chips. They brought out this AMAZING sauce to go with it and spicy sambal for my boyfriend. It was all so tasty and total beer which included a large beer and a couple of soft drinks come to 260R. Great value and way nicer than...
