I had lunch in the bishopstown bar today. I ordered the roast of the day and it was absolutely beautiful. Could not fault it. I then ordered the apple crumble on the recommendation of the waitress. The first few bites I took were lovely but when I took the next bite, I could feel something rock hard between my teeth. I took it out of my mouth and my immediate impression was that it was a fingernail. I called the waitress straight away and she said she would call the manager, who took a while to come over. When the blonde lady with glasses arrived I told her about the issue discreetly. It did not seem to faze her and she told me that it was the husk of an apple and not a fingernail. She then went on to ask me if I had ever made an apple tart or crumble before. I said yes, and that I used to be a chef. She then said that it could not be a fingernail as there was no girls in the kitchen. I can 100% say it was either a finger nail or plastic and nothing else. She took the dessert off the bill and asked if I wanted another dessert but at that point my stomach was already turned. She continued to hum and sing along to the music in the background. My complaint was not taken seriously at all and the piece of "husk" was not even shown to the chef. I could understand if something got into the food that shouldn't have, but to be made feel like I was stupid in this situation and not to be taken seriously is the reason for me leaving...

I had the West cork burger and a Hop House 13. I was there to watch a Munster Rugby Game. The service was rushed, which is understandable but it came off as kinda pushy. It was understandable though, a game on TV, a restaurant on going and it was one week away from Christmas. The food took longer than expected to come out ( about 25/30 mins ) but it was definitely worth it. The burger (, clonakilty black pudding patty with clonakilty rashers and Chester cheese from West cork) was delicious. The patty fell a part a little bit but it did not take away from the food. The pint was also quite good. Head died down a bit quicker than usual but it was a decently warm pub and it is to be expected. I was happy that they had it on tap as it was. The atmosphere was great. I guess I was lucky in a way that there was a game on and everyone near me was very engrossed in it. It was great for a bit of fun and laugh with each other and got some good chats going at half time. Once the game was done and had our food ate, we waited for us to pay the bill. Since the food was given to us, they never came back to check up on us. It dwindled the experience some bit. We had to go looking for the staff for is to pay which is completely unacceptable. All in all, good experience, great food, good beer and a disappointing...

First of all, there were two rats in the front seating area when we showed up. Only reason It's two stars and not one is because the wait staff were trying their best. Rude manager who complained about having to handle our booking to other staff members while we were nearby. Our booking table was about 10 metres from the rest of the customers and in the middle of the car park, felt very strange and last minute consider we booked well in advance. No music or atmosphere. Pizzas were clearly frozen and chips were delivered 15 mins after we had eaten the pizzas. Not told when booking for a 19th that we would need to be 20 to order drinks. Not told when booking that we would have to all order food unlike walk-in customers. Not told when booking we would be separated from rest of customers. Drinks were expensive and food underwhelming. Wait staff were the only members of staff trying to mend the situation and we appreciated their help. Awful management and running on behalf of the manager on last night, who came across as rude and petty. Everyone was incredibly disappointed with the outcome of the night and can't reccomend...

The Bishopstown Bar is always a favourite for our family but we had not been in a year or so and we shocked by the increase in pricing. The steak sandwiches were only okay. Nothing in particular to complain about but nothing to praise either. The scampi was a small portion but delicious! The curry was extremely delicious though adding chicken certainly raised the price. The pasta however was extremely oily, with a pool of it even visible in the photo. The garlic bread was grand and was used to try and soak up the oil. The staff were lovely, the checked on us so regularly it was almost annoying but to be fair it was a quiet night and there were not many other customers. Overall I would come back but I would avoid the pasta dishes.

Nice pub with nice service and yummy food in Bishopstown. They are very active, organizing events for the community: live music concerts, bingo, quizz (before covid), and charity events. The staff are really kind, and they have a great variety of beers, wine, spirits and cocktails. They have several floors, and they organize private events too, with reserving of these sections. They have an orchard which is lovely in the Summer. They have a small parking for customer cars, maybe for 10 cars, however there are several open, free, parking places nearby.

Really good bar food, tried few things and burger was huge and ok, cod was just lovely, yum chicken wings and delicious Cesar salad with fab garlic bread. The deserts were absolutely stunning and also must say that portions were just enormous!
