Bia & Co — Restaurant in County Galway

We were there for a combined 30th & 50th birthday party in August 2022. All of the staff were very helpful, obliging and very courteous to all our guests. Shannon the events organizer for the hotel was very professional in her approach with us. Unfortunately there were a few issues that tainted the event in what otherwise was an enjoyable evening. The waitresses were very patient in taking our orders however when they returned with the food there was a lack of organisation. They unfortunately did not know what table any of the food should be going to and by the time the last person received their food those that had received theirs first were already finished while others received food that was not as warm as should be. There was one guest whose starter was missing and when this was brought to the attention of the waitress she promptly returned with a starter that had been deep fried in oil rather than having been cooked in the oven. Really disappointing experience today. Had been to Bia&Co frequently over the last year and had nothing but positive to say until today. Menu has been cut in half…this might be forgivable if what remained was done exceptionally well, but that didn’t seem to be the case. More staff than customers at times, to the extent that they were clustering around chatting, and yet there were still many dirty tables waiting to be cleared. My dining mate’s meal was cold and bacon undercooked, she asked for it to be rectified and was left waiting for an unreasonable length of time, and bacon was now blackened, rendering it entirely inedible. The table beside us also returned their meal to the kitchen. More than one manager was milling around observing the chaos and unrest, but none intervened or came over to apologise or offer any kind of compensation. We where in the Claregalway Bia & Co for the night of my partners birthday (It was the best move) and from start to finish the Bar Manager Perera couldn't of done more for us all (my mam couldn't make the night and she rang and with the help of him she got to join it by buying a round for the occasion. He delivered it with a smile and a lovely message from mam)that's only one example of the kindness we received, it's these little things that we won't forget. I say the service was 5 star but I would give it more if I could, Everyone were so polite and helpful and nothing was to much trouble. The atmosphere was brilliant, there was music and all there.
