Came here for a meal with my wife as the hotel was catering for a private function. The place was busy so I assumed it would be a great meal. We had a 50 min wait for food which was longer than I would have liked . We were patient as the lady who had come to us when we arrived was very friendly and apologetic. However that's where the good part ended. The girl that served us didn't know the menu. When we asked if the chicken was served with mash or chips..she said neither 'it comes with veg". When we said we felt it would have to have either one of the options she reluctantly asked the chef and we were glad to discover it would come with mash... Would have been better to have a choice. Again there was a long delay and we almost left. We were finally served by the lady who had initially greet us...I think the waitress had forgotten us as the food arrived cold. Had it not been for such a long wait and the fact that we were really hungry we would have returned it. When we paid the 37 euro charge we did mention to the young lady at the till about it being cold. She was very apologetic but we reassured her that it was indeed not her fault. I will endeavour to attach photos of the food as it certainly did not look as appatising as it had looked on the menu. Won't be trying here again

We went to roots for lunch. The food was below par. I ordered the chili chicken melt which was ment to have spicy mayo but it seems the sandwiches are pre prepped (which is a common practice) but the mayo had totally soaked into the bread and the sandwich was quite dry. My lunch companion ordered the tuna melt and stated it was quite dry also. The sandwiches were ment to come with a side salad and we ordered chips on the side but the salads were replaced for some reason? The saving Grace was the coffee as it was quite nice. I got an iced latte with coconut milk. It ended up comming to around €38 which was fine. I would come again for takeaway coffee but give the food a skip. The servers were all extremely friendly.

Attentive and pleasant staff, tasty Italian food. Polite Covid Cert police, clean dining area and toilets. Interesting photo images of trees and landscape in the toilets.

I am not a person to give bad reviews but what has happened to this restaurant ! I am absolutely shocked on how it standards has slipped. I have eaten there on many occasion , but as I was out of country for several months. , I guess it been six months since I was ibI last there and it was a five star experience ! Today ! Ambience was nice, greeted by friendly member of staff who seated us at a nice comfortable table . The person who took our lunch order , when asked if we could have a salad instead of chips it was an absolute no ! The sandwiches were served with chips , I opted for none and my friend decided to have them . We were told a a salad garnish was on the plate and that was fine . My sandwich , sat on a bare plate , like something out of Oliver Twist with nothing , unlike the beautiful sandwiches display on your website and how appetising they look ! Honestly the onion , tomato slices were transparent they were so thin and I could not find the cheese !! My previous sandwiches or meals always were well presented but today it was off putting . I complained and the waitress came back with some side salad and it was delicious . My friends chips were just on a plate , like you give to a child , cold and she didn’t eat them ! What happened to the metal buckets who kept ones chips hot ? Why did you get rid of them , as you also display same on your website . I really believe someone needs to train your catering staff as to presentation and service ! Finally when I went to pay my bill , there were several people waiting to pay , while TWO ladies continues to make coffees without acknowledging us in any way ! There were two coffees one with marshmallows another with a leaf design sitting on counter to be given to waiting customers . It took 15 minutes or more to pay and they remained sitting there and I am sure they would have been returned as they were definitely cold by then !!!!! What can I say , lack of management , poor supervision and it was busy ! To my count there were two waitresses , two making coffees and one sitting having lunch or a meal ! The older waitress that initially took our order did check and see if all was ok after my initial complaint .So on a scale of 1-5 , giving it a 1 was even to much with regards to food presentation and quality of food ! Staff were trying their best but lacked leadership , but most of all customers service ! I hope who ever is in management reads this , because you have a fab venue , excellent location , but your foods has deteriorated so much ! I have always gone there and highly recommended the place but after today I would...
