We went to Mulino's for my birthday 2 weeks ago. We were the first clients in the restaurant, we arrived about 6.00 pm. The staff were very nice and friendly. We ordered a bottle of wine, two starters, and two main courses. However, my husband had taken about 2 bites of his main course when he almost swallowed a piece of hard plastic which was in the meal. He got a but of a fright but the staff were very nice about it and took both our meals away. They told us it would take about 20 minutes which it did. When the meals arrived for the second time we ordered another bottle of wine from which we had a glass each ( we took the remainder of the bottle home). We finished the meal with 2 coffees. The waiter bought us 2 lemon liquor drinks which he said were on the house. Any Italian restaurant I have ever been in has always presented this lemon liquor drink on the house. That includes restaurants we have visited in Italy. When the bill arrived there was no discount. We just paid the bill and left a tip for the staff ( who were very nice). Walking home my husband was still annoyed about biting into a piece of plastic. We were very disappointed in Mulino as we had been there with our family several times before. We won't be...
Read moreWe have been there twice and both times have been satisfied with the food. Try risotto and tiramisu! Nevertheless both times there was something a bit odd with the attitude of some staff. They were not impolite but they (especially the lady waitress) behaved as if they were either extremely unhappy themselves or extremely unhappy that they need to do this job which makes the customer feeling like a nuisance. We were lucky enough that the person bringing the bill was quite cheerful. I would like to think that he saw what the other staff was up to and tried rescuing the situation. You can see from my review and from other reviews that the service can be hit and miss. I would go back there again, for nice Italian food in the area and to check if the sad part of the staff found their true calling or at least customer...

We had gone to Turin Italy a year ago and the pasta there was the same as here at Mulinos, fresh and cooked exactly the way it should be.
The atmostphere is perfect with locals all around coming to eat and professional, inviting staff welcoming them. A man who I assume to be the owner had checked in on us (always a great sign) for wine and reccomended some great food pairings and no need for a notebook or pen. One man came to take our side plates and promptly after another delivered our food. These small details really show the professionalism here and their understanding of offering an experience.
I can say for certain that its the closest place to Italy you will find in Ireland. We will...
