Have been here many different times with family and in fairness was always nice, but never been there on a Sunday! Recommended to meet here on Sunday with friends and have never been so embarrassed for giving a recommendation!!! I rang ahead to reserve an area for 4.30pm, but told they don't reserve table areas, ok, but about 3 tables we're already reserved with reserved signs on them that we could see when we arrived and looking for seats down by the restaurant area!!! We were sitting with friends then and at least a half an hour or more before waiting / lounge staff even approached us after walking past several times!!! And that was after several attempts of trying to get there attention to order food and drinks !!! We all ordered drinks and only half the order arrived!, then when the second half did arrive, something was floating in one glass of wine! When ordering food (sitting in restaurant area) was told no table service on Sunday!! (The weekend and one of the busiest days for eating out I'd have thought, sitting in there restaurant area) that we would all have to go up to the bar hatch to order food!!! One of us was celiac and notified them when placing order and asked about celiac options and was directed twice to items on the menu clearly advising it contains gluten!!!! Only after pointing this out twice, they went off to confirm with the chef!!! They offered GF curry, but after eating this the celiac member of group feeling unwell next day!! One member of the group got the lasagne, but mince looked under cooked and pink and red in places! Side salad on the plate wasn't fresh and dried up! We ordered another round of drinks but the waiting staff / lounge girl never came back!! Nearly half hour later waiting, went up to the bar instead to get drinks directly, one glass was dirty with lipstick on it and glass of wine again had something floating in it!! celiac member ordered gluten free beer earlier too that just never arrived!!... disgusted with the service and food, very disappointed... First time to go on a Sunday and also recommend meeting there for food and drinks, needless to say the...
Read moreI wouldn't even give a star at all, just being to this place and didn't last 5 minutes there. Went for a sandwich and soup as they state they do a sandwich bar firstly the sandwich bar had about 8 items that's fair enough but the two servers where rude and it was like an effort to get two soups then went to ask for the sandwiches and was told by the other server that it's just a hot sandwich so that meant the hot meat from the roast dinners and I didn't want that and told them no to which they both weren't impressed but then said they could do me a cold sandwich the other server asked was it just a Ham and cheese sandwich in which it wasn't want I wanted so I said no they seemed to be getting upset about being told no. They just assumed what we would like and we weren't the only ones that where servered with a attitude. Then we went to pay for two soups the cost was 11.95 the man at the till was nice asked did we want brow or white bread we took the brown bread. We sat down to have the soup and then start finding big lumps in the soup I thought it was maybe the veg or mash not fully blended but it wasn't it was powder so the soup came from some sort of package. We didn't finish of the soup. We then left. I'd never step foot back here and I do understand people can have bad days I also know if a restaurant is busy it can be frustrating but this place wasn't busy at all and if people are having bad days they shouldn't bring it to work or even just put it aside while...
Read moreI feel the halfway house has went downhill big time. Been living across the road in the Phoenix park racecourse apartments for the last year and itâs been my local. The food has steadily gotten worse. I donât know if I was very unlucky but this evening on the way home from work I was walking up from the train and stopped in for dinner and a pint. It was very very poor, borderline unacceptable. The âbuffaloâ chicken burger was as tough as nails. And there was no flavour off of it whatsoever. The onion rings were soggy and everything was lukewarm.
The menâs toilets in the main lounge and also bar are very dirty. Cobwebs on the tiles and a smell of urine when you enter.
I hate to be too critical but as a pub that has a decent name in north Dublin over the years it seems like theyâve gotten too comfortable. Theyâre happy to just throw out the slap up carvery to the local residents and regulars that come all the time and wouldnât know a good meal if it hit them in the face, which is fine. But at least bring down your prices. Youâre in D15, not the city centre.
The older barmen in the place arenât friendly either that have been there years. Very unaccommodating when it comes to showing sports and turning over channels etc. The place is like a wake on Thursday-Sundays when they should be thriving with all the local young people. Itâs a bar...
