I don’t like the term ‘hidden gem’ but it’s hard not to describe C’est La Vie as exactly that. A truly authentic French experience, in every way. From the lovely French accents of the staff, the gorgeous decor, the excellent coffee & outstanding freshly baked goods, it is such a wonderful place and if you weren’t in the middle of an Industrial Estate it really does feel like you are in France! It was here, in the most unassuming of locations, on a dull Monday morning, that I had one of the best pastries of my life. This says a lot coming from a pastry fiend. The pain au raisin was light, flaky, full of raisins, the size of my head and perfectly heated (because warm pastries are better than all other pastries). I will be a regular here without a doubt. Amazing - and not like the usual versions you get these are pretty special. 🤗Also had a fabulous americano. Very pleasant French staff. The inner bakery is viewable from the cafe which is nice. So glad I don’t live next door because I would be the size of a house!! Nevertheless I will be back to sample the quiches, sandwiches, soups...
