Achari Indian Restaurant — Restaurant in Limerick

I honestly don’t understand how this place has received such positive reviews when I would say this was the WORST INDIAN Restaurant I have been to in my lifetime. When we arrived - despite less than 50% occupied - the waiting staff and had not kept the table ready.. and was grossly understaffed.. with one server attending to takeaway orders and the restaurant. On occasions, we did see back of house staff come to the front.. but they were in shoddy casuals and not at all the smart dress code which did ruin the experience of being at a restaurant. The service was painfully slow and unresponsive and the food was awful.. BECAUSE I HAD FOOD POISONING from their Tandoori Chicken.. it was bland, over cooked and laden in oil. The vegetarian food didn’t fare any better as my in-laws and husband didn’t feel well either. The server also didn’t care to ask if everything was okay and as per our expectations after he had served the food The place looked like it had already given up and was genuinely piggybacking on the back of false PR- it’s undeserved. This place deserves to be shutdown immediately given how ill it made me and my family. A bloody insult to the institution of Indian Gastronomy - AVOID...

What on earth has happened to this place?? Man on phone didnt seem to understand the menu ,3 times i had to explain to him that they do infact serve kebabs , when i did get my food it was disgusting, no salt on chips , bad taste and smells and had to argue that a meal deal includes a drink. The price payed was also higher than what was advertised on website but im sure if he doesnt understand the menu he sure as hell doesnt understand consumer law.

Leaving up my original review from pre covid for comparison. I have never been angry after ordering from a takeaway but 1st time for everything. Cop on or watch your business shut down youl only have yourself to blame

Amazing selection of great quality food, lovely sit down area or fast take away with a friendly service, certainly one of top resteraunts in castletroy if not limerick, only downside is finding this little gem as its located upstairs between rios...

Some of the reasons for the closure order of Achari in Castletroy included;

There was no hot water, soap or a way to dry hands at the wash-hand basin in the kitchen, The chef was wearing clothes that were described in the report as being "unclean, outer clothing" and wasn't wearing a hair covering, There was mould on the fan serving the cold room, The grill unit used for cooking was unclean, The chef on site said they hadn't received any food safety training, Allergen information was inaccurate, The ceiling not having a "smooth, durable or readily cleanable surface", There was no light in the cold room, The cover of a chest freezer was broken, There was food debris on exposed pipework, Unwrapped spring rolls were in the base of the freezer, Food was stored in open sacks at the top of the stairs "with food debris...
