Fundamental issues in management and operations. Their employees are a cheap source of labour and that's it, enjoy the Christmas hamper everyone has to share, while management take their "fair share" of tips.
they give a "welcome to the family" spiel but not like any family I know.
and went 11 months without contacting me during the temporary lay-off, which to me was a sign to look elsewhere for employment and now being threatened with disciplinary action by a director at La Cucina for not replying to his email after 30 days when they went 300+ days without contacting me, despite the cafe being open 90 days out of those 300.
Food 2/5 Management 0/5 Minimum wage staff 4/5 (they put up with so much from management)
Asked the director to have an owner contact me to discuss these very issues but apparently not important enough.
Edit: I did find one of the owners to be very helpful when my bike was vandalised by a chef in the Castletroy premises but that appears to have been a one-off considering staff turnover was always quite high with staff members walking out in tears after "talks" with an...
Read moreI was at a conference at UL and found myself in a quandary to find a restaurant that was not on campus (most had closed for the night) that was nearby and didn't require me going into the city. Siri on my iPhone pointed me to La Cucina as the closest restaurant, and I figured out that I couldn't go too wrong with Italian food. I didn't see the prior reviews until later. Read moreFrom the moment you walk into this little Italian gem, you’re greeted like family. The atmosphere is warm and inviting with the highest quality food and coffee. Every dish I’ve had from salads to pasta has been impressive, however their burrata and hot honey pizza is something else. I cannot say enough about the standard, all the sweet treats and desserts are amazing- again a special mention to the tiramisu!!
The service is just as impressive as the food. Every member of staff goes above and beyond, but I have to give a special mention to Eoin. He’s simply the best — friendly, attentive, and somehow always knows exactly what you need before you even ask. He makes every visit that bit more special.
If you’re after delicious Italian food, excellent coffee and wine, and a team that genuinely cares about their customers, this place is...
