Perfect little coffee shop with the most tasty coffee and even better yet, the best scone I have ever had. My husband and I were ordering coffee “to take-away” and as we were waiting, I read a clever sign that said: “scones so fresh, they were still flour at 7:00 AM” ! Of course it piqued our interest, we ordered a scone (original) and sat down to enjoy it all. I have to say, the scone was the freshest I have ever tasted. It was perfectly baked, light and fluffy in the inside and the right amount of crispy baked bits on the outside. Let me not forget the clotted cream on the side. If you are ever in Cobh, do yourself a favour, make your way over to the Coffee Cove, order a coffee (or tea), a scone and enjoy a delectable moment surrounded by local and historical momentos.

Disclaimer - I have yet to meet a scone I didn't like. With that said, not all scones are created equal. Some drier, some denser, some lighter, etc... That all changed yesterday. I experienced the holy grail of scones. Truly! I don't know what kind of wizardry or sorcery is happening in the kitchen; all I can say is this is quite literally, the best scone experience I have ever had. So much so, I went again today. You know, just to make sure. I nearly wept with the last bite, knowing I would not experience this again until my next trip to Cobh. The coup de grâce was the expertly crafted flat white. I know, I know. It sounds too good to be true. Yet, it's not. A place like this really exists and it might just be heaven on earth.

We drove from our cottage in Middleton to have breakfast ☕🍳🥐in Cobh. Breakfast was excellent with scones and coffee ☕. We sat outside and had a nice chat with a couple of locals who usually spend their mornings there greeting their fellow residents. Also Frank Moynihan who served us gave me a history lesson about the blue granite used in both the Cobh Cathedral and the Basilica in St.John's, Newfoundland, my birthplace. It all was one of those moments that you relish from travels😎

We were there for a long time before any service. We were going to approach the counter for a menu when a couple walked in, and an employee came over right away, cleaned their table and handed them menus. Myself and my partner were taken aback by this, and sat for a few more minutes wondering maybe he had only seen us then? (although we were seated pretty obviously). When it was finally time to order I enquired about the vegan options - I always ask before ordering coffees just in case (just as well), and I had seen this place has "vegan options" on Tripadvisor so I was looking forward to lunch. The man serving us stumbled on words and said I could have a salad. I asked was there any other options other than a salad? I was told no, not for vegans. Confused, I then asked what was in the salad, maybe tofu etc. - "lettuce, tomato, whatever is up at the counter" Ok.. we left...
