Visited the Pines on the Father's day - maybe 4th time but for the first decided to eat. The place was packed and the younger part of the staff seem to run around super busy and disoriented when suddenly Rachel appeared from nowhere and found us seating (so much thank you!). There were 3 of us and all ordered food: the salmon is to die for: surprisingly the quality, the portion size and the presentation is way above the pub average. The penne and the roast dinner were also well presented and very tasty. Pints were good and the service from Rachel was simply amazing. Regardless how busy it was - never waited more than 2-3 minutes from order to table. On the downside - looks like the place has no system and all the waiters serve all of the tables. That led to some saltines when on 2 occasions someone else took the order for the next round and messed it up. This matters, as actually you may tip the wrong person with such random rotation at the bill time. But Rachel clearly saved the day apart from that and I'll be back with my family and friends.

I enjoyed this experience but there was some slight issues that brought it down. We had to wait a while to get our menus but the food came quick once we ordered, the menu was very strict in way like you couldn’t get the cauliflower taken out of the carbonara, they also wouldn’t let you put salmon in the vegetable stir fry and the dessert menu only had Eton mess, crumble and ice cream. However it was one of the last days of the Christmas holidays so it was probably just busy. The service was good, even when someone asked for them to turn on the match on the TV they did it with no problems at all which was nice. The food was really delicious and it is a really nice pub in the area. I will probably be back, maybe in a not so busy time. Also I highly recommend the crumble.

Not a place for families.

I had been to the pines many times before today because it is 2 minutes from my house. I arrived just after 5pm today with my wife and 2 kids (aged 3 and 7). The place was busy but we had no issues getting a table. We had almost finished the mains when man in his early 50s joined the table of 2 other men behind me. This man was standing facing my 2 kids. About 2.5m away from us. Every 2nd word out of his mouth was F**K and it was at the top of his voice. His language was disgusting. This was just after 5pm and we had other families around. I looked at the man a number of times indicating him to stop. This was ignored.

This man was the owner of the Pines or at least his son from what I could make out from the conversation.

His covid mask was also under his chin for the time he was standing behind us.

We will never be back and I wouldn't recommend the place for anyone...
