Disappointed with Greek Gyros - Not Worth the Hype

I had heard a lot about Greek Gyros and decided to give it a try, expecting a delicious, authentic meal. Unfortunately, my experience was far from pleasant. From the food quality to the customer service, everything about my visit was disappointing. This place may have a good reputation, but it certainly didn’t live up to the hype.

To start, the service was incredibly slow and unprofessional. When I walked in, the staff barely acknowledged my presence, even though the restaurant was not busy. It took a long time for anyone to take my order, and when they finally did, they seemed rushed and uninterested. There was no warmth or hospitality, which is something I typically associate with Greek cuisine. Instead, I felt like an inconvenience.

The food was another major letdown. I ordered a classic gyro and a side of fries, expecting flavorful, freshly prepared ingredients. What I received was anything but. The gyro meat was dry and overcooked, lacking the juicy tenderness that is essential for a good gyro. The pita bread was stale and tough, and the tzatziki sauce tasted bland and watery. It was clear that no effort had gone into preparing the meal. The fries were soggy and greasy, and I could tell they had been sitting under a heat lamp for too long.

Moreover, the portions were smaller than expected, especially for the price. Greek Gyros markets itself as offering authentic and hearty meals, but what I got felt more like a fast-food imitation. For the amount I paid, I could have gone to a proper Greek restaurant and received a much better experience.

The cleanliness of the restaurant was also concerning. The tables were not properly cleaned, and there were crumbs and grease marks everywhere. The floors looked like they hadn’t been mopped in days, and the overall atmosphere was uninviting. It’s hard to enjoy a meal when the environment feels neglected and unsanitary.

To make matters worse, when I raised my concerns with the staff, they were dismissive and unapologetic. I politely pointed out the issues with my meal, hoping for some acknowledgment or a resolution, but they brushed it off as if it didn’t matter. This lack of accountability was incredibly frustrating and made the experience even worse.

In summary, my visit to Greek Gyros was a complete disappointment. The food was subpar, the service was poor, and the overall atmosphere was lacking in every way. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone looking for quality Greek food. There are plenty of other establishments that offer better food, better service, and a more pleasant dining experience. Save your money and go somewhere else.

If Greek Gyros wants to keep its customers, it needs to seriously improve its food quality, customer service, and cleanliness. Until then, I won’t be returning, and I’ll be advising others to avoid this place as well. What a waste of...

Had an absolute horrendous experience with this restaurant and I will never order from here again. We had this twice before and trusted them for Valentine’s Day meal.

The delivery driver rang and said he was outside. When we came down nobody was there so we rang the driver back. He said somebody took the food and he assumed it was us. Frustrating for us but felt sorry for the delivery driver that somebody would do such a thing. Driver told us he would sort it out for us and get the order re done. At this stage we had already been waiting 1 hour and a half for the food but we said we would continue to wait.

Some time passed after this and we got another call from the driver stating that the restaurant wouldn’t do the order again and he was coming to us to give us the refund. We were really confused as to what was going on but the driver said it was out of his control and we would have to wait half hour for the restaurant to be taking orders again if we wanted our food. By this stage it was already 2 hours since we placed the order so giving this rhetoric we would be potentially waiting another hour and half for our food if we are lucky.

Big questions I have for the company here

Why is the driver coming to our residence to give us a refund out of his own pocket? Could you not have done this through just eat? Instead we were put in a very awkward position of having to take a bank transfer from the young driver. We have felt horrible since this and would love to give the driver back his money since we feel this was out of his control.

Why could our order not be accommodated for? We had already been waiting 1 hour and a half and were willing to continue to wait. I’m sure accidents happen all the time with food but we had not yet got our food. We were still outstanding. It doesn’t matter if the restaurant is busy or not. We ended up having to look elsewhere for food and didn’t end up with food on our plate until 9:30pm 3 hours after we placed our order with you.

I rang the restaurant to explain the situation. The manager just continued to blame the driver for the situation. He then took my number and never called me back.

It feels like not only was the delivery driver being punished but we were also being punished for something to was out of anyone’s control. Put a massive stain on what should have been a great night and we’ve pretty much had to pretend like the following the day was Valentine’s Day since the day before was completely ruined.

Not good enough and as a walkinstown/crumlin native, I will be making sure everyone in the local area is aware of this as I hope nobody has to be put in the position we were. I feel sorry for anyone working at this company if this is the way the manager runs...

Went there a few days ago, the tidiness of the place was awfully impressive. I had the mixed gyros on a plate plus a pork skewer and a mineral. The warmth of the dish felt like being hugged from the inside. The plate was really well served and had a rich aroma that filled the entire restaurant, it comes with a dressing but the dish itself is entirely tasty and full of flavour. The meat was extremely juicy and nicely done, the vegetables were fresh and lively coloured and the bread was warm like as if have been just baked. The fries were vivid yellow, crunchy and perfectly seasoned. When I had it for the first time I was reluctant of trying it, but the food blew me away, it is one of the few places in Dublin that I go and feel that I can actually savour the food. Everything is prepared on your sight, so rest assured of the freshness and care with your food. The staff could use some feedback on their manners, cause they were slightly rude to us, but overall was a great experience and would definitely...

Amazing food. I was delighted to see this quality being served so close to home. I love greek food and always crave for it. The price is not great, but its not terrible. But when you compare the portions, then you see the value. The plates are enough for two people. Very well served. I had the Veggie Wrap. The plate version. Which doesn't come on a plate, it cames on a wooden board. Like those we use to chop vegetables, etc... I've asked for some feta cheese on mine since it's not part of the dish. I was expecting a few square of it, but for my surprise, they gave me a full piece of feta cheese. The other thing I asked for was some tzatziki sauce. The chef brought it to my table and explained it home-made. Which you can feel when you jave the first tast of it. The texture is different from the ones I have around Dublin. This is definitely a 5 stars 🌟 restaurante.

Can't believe this place is open 2 years and tonight was my first time trying it when myself and my girl came in we where greeted with a warm welcome the staff are so friendly and we discovered it was family run and you could tell as it had a lovely atmosphere the food was unbelievable I had chicken wings as a starter and they where the nicest I've ever had unreal the grilled halloumi was spectacular and the Gyros will not be beaten by a long shot the best around and I couldn't belive how reasonable this place was you'd not get food and service of such high standards for the value its 2nd to none around really looking forward to coming back here what a lovely experience from start to finish👌😋

Went here on Wednesday evening with my wife, daughter and her partner at about 7. There was not many people there when we arrived but it was Wednesday and more people came in while we were there. The service was fine and she got the order for the meal itself spot on and it was fabulous when it arrived. Once we finished our main meal we got tea and desert which was great. The total for the four of us was €96 which was very reasonable. I would definitely recommend going here before it gets too popular and you are not able to get a table. We will be back for sure.
