We have been to Las Tapas four times now as we live close by, the first two occasions were good. I rang last week to book a table for 5 and requested a table for 5 not a table for 4 and have 5 people crammed into one table as this happened the last time, the lady confirmed a larger table would be reserved for Saturday. When we arrived Saturday we were brought to the same table for 4. I reminded the lady that we requested a larger table as there is barely room to move with 5 people at a smaller table. She said Las Tapas do not take special requests on Saturday bookings. After a short discussion and much resistance from server we were seated at a table for 6. Our server at the beginning was great but after she took our drinks and food order we did not see her again, after ten minutes of waiting we had to find someone to bring our drinks, we got our food quickly. The restaurant was now busy. We then had to to go the bar after waiting almost 25 minutes for a dessert menu, the owner of the restaurant took our order and made no apologies. After we finished dessert we waited another half hour for the bill, all this time we were talking and eating etc but still we felt we had to keep going to the bar to get service. Finally I went to pay the bill and I told the Owner that one dish was not acceptable and we returned it and I was not going to pay for it. he reprinted bill and dropped it on the bar counter, I then said ok I would like to discuss the table service, he looked over me and to his left and right as I was explaining very politely and calmly our experience. Clearly the owner had no interest in what I had to say so I finally said ok forget about it. He then said ok I gave you tea and coffee free. All €6 out of €170 of the bill. I was not looking for anything for free, a simple apology and complimentary drink the next time would have been suffice! We will never set foot in Las Tapas again, very disappointing experience. Lastly the food has definitely dropped in quality slightly since the last time (3 weeks ago). We went to Brambles cafe the following day and got our tea and coffee for free because we are loyal customers. Food for thought Las Tapas....
Read moreI went here two weeks ago with friends. There was a slight mixup with booking times but the staff were able to accommodate us so we didn't have to come back 2 hours after we arrived for our table. My friend claimed she booked for 6pm but I didn't witness the call so I won't assign blame to anyone for that. Myself and my wife split a 'seafood for 2' tapas selection. The food arrived quickly and was really good. Cooked to perfection even. The staff were attentive but into the second hour became a little overly so, calling last orders for drinks once we'd ordered dessert (espresso martini for me) and kind of standing over us/rushing us out the door once we'd paid. Understandable if we were sitting there for hours sipping the same drink but with plenty of empty tables I'd have hung on and continued drinking the San Miguel on tap. I felt a little bit like Homer Simpson being barred from the all you can eat restaurant. I just wanted another 2 (or 3) San Miguel. Maybe I'm greedy and I guess it's understandable that after the last 2 years restaurants want to make the most of people eating out and don't want to inconvenience anyone by having me sitting there swimming in San Miguel. In retrospect I should have mentioned that we also had a booking for 8pm. Dinner for 4 people with drinks (including 3 glasses of prosecco) and desserts (not forgetting my espresso martini) came to €200. 4/5 stars. I'd definitely recommend it and I'll be...
Read moreFood is a 2 out of 5. Service decent but forgot to bring drinks we ordered and then later brought more drinks than we had ordered. We paid anyway, the atmosphere is nice but its very pricey for the quality.
14 euro for frozen octopus, rubbery in places, no spice, cilantro on everything. Disappointed. As some one who has spent a good time in northern Spain I was excited to try this tapas restaurant with friends, based off the prices I expected quality food.
Tortilla española, dry and overcooked, practically burnt on the bottom, there is several choice for how well done a Spanish omellete can be but I've never had one this overcooked.
Champiñones al ajillo, good portion size but very bland.
5.50 for bread with olive oil and vinegar?
Paelle, I went for the meat option which they safely did as chicken and chorizo. Rice was very wet but the hxorizo was decent.
San Miguel was decent off the tap and the only reason I decided to pay. They have no other beer apparently.
Seating was terrible. Table for six beside a staff door, very tight, the table behind me, the chair was touching my chair so I couldn't move back to even get up.
Overall it wasnt worth the money and I wouldn't...
