Kelly Lou Cakes — Restaurant in The Municipal District of Portlaoise

I have been a regular customer of Kelly Lou and used to be happy and satisfied until today morning. The restaurant was quiet and just 2 customers dining-in this morning, but I noticed that the 2 staff were not in the mood to work, not smiling at all. The lady at the til (I think she’s Polish) took my order, French toast with crispy bacon and scrambled egg on the top of it plus americano. To my surprised, I was billed €22 for that order, I told to lady that I used to order the same menu numerous times and I always paid €15, I explained many times what’s my order but the lady was argumentative with high tone of voice. To avoid getting an attention from the people behind me, I paid the €22 (the most expensive breakfast I ever had in ordinary restaurant). When the foods served I was disappointed as they’re not exactly what I ordered. I knew that the lady didn’t understand my order but she wasn’t listening to my instructions and ended up paid the overpriced bill, the lady apologised eventually but I didn’t enjoy the...

Kelly Lou made the cake for our destination wedding at Cloughjordan House in June 2024. She did an absolutely fantastic job with the design and the flavors were amazingly delicious! She made a divine three-tiered cake - two tiers of lemon and one of white chocolate raspberry - and it was a simple yet extraordinarily stunning design featuring fresh flowers from our florist. She came to the venue to set it up in the most beautiful way!

We're a couple based in NYC so when we visited Ireland for the first time in September 2023 for planning reasons, we knew we wanted to do a cake tasting if we could, and Kelly Lou made it very easy for us by putting together a wonderful taster box that we picked up at her bakery on our route from a venue visit at Cloughjordan House in Co. Tipperary to Dublin. All the flavors were so tasty so it was hard to choose :)

We highly recommend Kelly Lou! Thanks for making the wedding cake of our dreams and we can't wait to have some more on our one year...

We came in here to celebrate my sister's birthday on Monday, the girl that served us at the till seemed fine quite pleasant. We went and sat at the table which was filthy , most of the tables were. When we looked around to see if there were any staff three of them were standing behind the till chatting. 10 minutes passed and one lady brought down our drinks to which she seemed shocked that the table was still in a mess. No apology just tutting at the table like it was our fault. The girl that served us then brought over our soup and my son's french toast (which was kind of burnt) and then when we said we were still waiting on our cakes she replied with what cakes?
