Coffee Start — Restaurant in Tralee Municipal District

DIRTY HANDS, OVER CHARGED AND NO RESPECT FOR FOOD ALLERGIC.

I'm sorry to report I didn't have a good experience at this cafe earlier this week.

Upon arrival we were greeted with a really friendly waitress was brought us to our table. I'd asked for a menu, and I was told there wasn't any all the menus and prices were painted on the wall to see.

My friend and I, order two all day Irish breakfast, which we were told "the lady in the kitchen isn't making them anymore" which is fine. My friend ordered the "sausage bacon and scrambled eggs" and I ordered the "the pancakes with bacon and banana and syrup on the side" and two Americano's.

When the food was deliever to our table, the was nutella, hazelnut spread folded in the pancakes, with banana and bacon on top. Which might not be of a issue for some people, however to those of us with nut allergic THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE WHICH CAN LEAD TO SWELLING OF THE TONGUE, THROAT & FACE. TOTAL LACK OF RESPECT!!!

When handing back the plate to the lovely waitress, she did say than the lady in the kitchen was going to make fresh pancakes and reuse the bacon and banana, quote "the lady in the kitchen won't take no for an answer". To be fair, it was nice of the last in the kitchen to offer, however basic culinary skills in a cafe is to number one: DISPLAY WHERE NUT OR NUTTY PRODUCTS ARE USED ON A LIGIBLE MENU.

It's a complete disregard for any own who suffers from allergic or food reactions.

Secondly the gentleman who delivered the food to the table a dirty hands and finger nails.

Thirdly we where over charged, for the "sausage bacon and scrambled eggs" being charged €8.50 for the meal instead of the advistisef price painted on the wall of €7.50 when my friend confronted the teller, he reply was, you were charged and extra euro of the sausage. Which wasn't indicated on the menus painted on the wall. Please note the teller and the gentleman who delivered the food to the table was the same person and wasn't wearing any gloves between handeling cash.

The only saving grace for this cafe was the lovely waitress who could apologies enough and really was pretty embarrassed about it herself.

I CANNOT RECOMMEND ANYBODY...

I'll start with a trip here for ice cream pre covid and it was delicious looked like a lovely cafe.. but on a revisit Sunday morning im still fuming we were table of 5 we visited for breakfast and when ordered our food the waitress said oh she's not gonna like that when 4 full Irish breakfasts were ordered and pancakes with bacon. Also was about 10mins before our order was taken but they looked under staffed. So we didn't mind that.. anyways we waited patiently got our tea and drinks but no sign of our food coming, after 40 mins we approached the waitress walking past us looking for the bill as we had to check out of the campsite for 12. She laughed and said yeah. No sign of her coming back so 2 of us went up and said we have to cancel because we've been waiting almost an hour and we need to go, the lady cooking asked the waitress to tell us why the wait and we were told they lost our docket, now I'm sorry but if you see customers sitting there and you know they ordered food would you not approach them and apologise for misplacing the order instead of ignoring us. Not a way to run a business that's for sure, also not one apology from any of the staff and she charged us for our drinks.. our visit came up on Google as 1hr and 10...

I must say one of the nicest places I've been in for quite some time. Coming from a busy Cork City where most of the cafes are over run by customers, where staff are pacing and hardly have time to say hello, to the friendly quite pleasant atmosphere in Coffee Start Tralee, its quite the contrast. Nothing compares to the pleasant personal experience, the excellent table service and the friendly approach taken by staff. I found the staff very obliging and showed a clear iniciative to help customers. The coffee was just fantastic and the food was just impeccable. Whilst the cafe remained busy the whole time I was there the atmosphere remained relaxed and really pleasant, somewhat down to the layout and cosy furnishings.It really is the type of place that will suit everyone.
