Where to start...1st off we were seated at a table with chairs that should have been thrown out 20years ago,no padding with the wood coming through. The dust on top of the wall panelling hadn't seen a cloth in years,we ordered prawns on puri for starters which comprised of about 2 prawns chopped up on a fried chapatti which was drenched in an indescribable sickly sauce. When we asked for extra poppadoms we were told that they had run out...akin to Eskimos running out of ice...for mains we had chicken resala and lamb rogan josh with pilau rice and chips, to say that we weren't enamoured with any of these dishes would be an understatement, the rogan josh was peppery and unlike any I've ever had before while the resala had very little to write home about, being both bland and peppery also. We were also told that they had run out of chardonnay when requested and that dessert wasn't even on the menu. On receiving the bill we were shocked to find that our meals did not come with an option of rice or chips/naan but these had to be paid for separately...only free with meals from the takeaway, when we pointed out to management that this wasn't specified on the menu he did say he "might " look into rectifying this in the future and promptly removed the charge from our bill. To say we left with a sour taste in our mouth was an understatement, never have I experienced anything like this, from the poor service to the equally poor food, if I could "award" the Royal India with any stars it would have to be in the minus bracket, I would not recommend this place anyone ,and to say it would put fawlty towers to shame would be an...
Read moreRoyal india is the nicest Indian I've ever had. I would normal only ever order a korma or a tikka masala, I have started to become more adventurous (because of recommendations from the owner) and ive never been disappointed with any dish. The restaurant was busy with tables all adhering to the social distance restrictions, and you could see that it was extremely busy with takeaway and deliveries. The service never faltered the waiter was so friendly and attentive and as always the food was impeccable. At the end of our meal the head chef / owner came out to check how our meal was. Which was such a lovely touch. I can't recommend royal india enough for takeaway or sit in. The standard of food never alters whether its takeaway or sit in. You can tell by the food that the chef has care and pride in...
Read moreOrdered 2 chicken tikka masalas, vegetable balti and vegetable jafrazi. The chicken 'tikka' masala dishes contained anaemic looking chicken...not cooked in a tandoor and in a sloppy korma sauce...korma was NOT ordered! Vegetable dishes contained what can only be described as coming from frozen bags of 'vegetable medley" with crinkle cut carrots and peas! They tried to pull it off by throwing a few fresh green beans in there ...but not fooling anyone. No fresh chillies on the jafrazi and sauce was very oily. Also a small bag of greasy chips for 4 euros and the rest overpriced considering the poor quality. Would have sent it back if had not been a take away. Very...
