I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Ballacregga Corn Mill Cosy Tea Room, and it was nothing short of a magical experience. From the moment I stepped inside, I was enveloped by the charming and rustic ambiance that perfectly captures the essence of a traditional countryside tea room.

What truly elevated the experience, though, was the exceptional service provided by Isla Palmer. Isla is, without a doubt, the heart and soul of this delightful establishment. Her warm, welcoming smile instantly made me feel at home, and her attention to detail is unparalleled. Isla went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of our visit was perfect. She knew the menu inside out and offered fantastic recommendations, guiding us to the most delectable treats and perfectly brewed teas.

Isla’s genuine passion for her work shines through in every interaction. She effortlessly balanced attentiveness with the perfect amount of discretion, allowing us to enjoy our afternoon tea in a peaceful and relaxed setting. Her kindness and charm added a personal touch that made our visit truly unforgettable.

The tea room itself is a hidden gem, with a wonderful selection of freshly baked scones, pastries, and a variety of teas that cater to every palate. But it’s Isla Palmer who truly makes this place special. Her dedication to making every guest’s experience extraordinary is commendable. I can’t recommend Ballacregga Corn Mill Cosy Tea Room enough—it's a must-visit, and be sure to ask for Isla! She will undoubtedly make your visit as exceptional as mine was. Five stars all the way! The nicest scones ever the first 2 visits, but by the 3rd visit I think they must have lost the recipe. Overly large stale and dry as dust, no amount of butter or cream would help them go down. A disappointing lunch, I noted a heavy reliance on bought in items such as chicken goujons. The bright orange bread crumbs and regular shapes gives it away every time. They wanted to charge us an extra 2 pounds for some chorizo on my chicken sandwich, despite the fact there was a panini on the specials board containing chicken and chorizo, but I did not want the chips that came with it.Not an impossible request , but I thought it greedy to charge extra so refused out of principle. The chicken sandwich was overly full of bought in chicken and mayonnaise, half the amount would have been generous enough and then I could have had a bit of chorizo instead. I could not eat it all, it was so uninspiring. So we felt very put off by the experience. It maybe a few months before we bother again. Shame about the scones they had lulled me into a false sence...

Stopped here for tea and cake during a busy Duck Race Saturday. We arrived via the Mine Train so didn’t need to worry about parking. There are however some spaces in the Laxey Wheel car park if you get stuck. We sat inside next to the wheel which was lovely. There weren’t any menus visible anywhere so we just guessed what to have from what we could see behind the counter. After watching a few people come and go, I saw you could ask for a menu from behind the till and it sounds like there is a lot to choose from for lunch and other snacks. The cakes we had were delicious and a very high standard. The service was relatively friendly but just a tad slow. There were bursts of busy periods so this didn’t help. The prices were average for the island.
