The Mines Tavern — Restaurant in Laxey

Went as a large group of twelve people. Ordered beer and food no problems. 7 of us ordered sandwhich and chips and four of us ordered a hot food snack basket. The sandwhich order was received after a wait of almost an hour one order was lost but quickly replaced THEN 20 mins later the barman came out to inform the other 4 that he had just had a phone call from the chef who said that they had 'had enough' and that they had walked out! He refunded the money for the non existant meals but it left us very dissapointed and actually quite shocked at what had happened. Apart from the lad behind the bar who had been put in a very awkward position by the chef the rest of the staff were terrible! The two women serving, one of which said she didnt even work there, didnt seem to be bothered and seemed to view us as an inconvenience rather than a large group of paying customers who had picked their pub first over the other pub we had also planned to visit so we could eat. My family and myself got the tram from Ramsey to Laxey to have lunch the other day. The plan was to have lunch at the pub. Just spent a wonderful morning at the Laxey Wheel and Mine on the lsle of Man! Had time for a panini and pint at the Mines Tavern before my train back to Douglas. What a great pub, lovely atmosphere, good beer and food! Angela and her young staff were so welcoming! Cosy fire which was hard to leave! No hesitation in recommending a well-run tavern!
