Archibald Knox — Restaurant in Onchan

We visited here for my partners 25th birthday meal/drinks.

The word terrible does not cover it.

There was 14 of us and most (7) ordered the Thai Green Curry with chips and rice.

I unfortunately asked for just rice and my order was missed meaning I was eating 15 minutes after everyone else. I was offered my meal for 15% off but advised it would not be free as I still ate it! I suppose this is a small jester of goodwill, but when the bill comes to over £190 for food and then add the 7-9 drinks for 14 people, offering £3 off the bill is a terrible jesture.

When I first complained about still not being served, I was advised that the kitchen had missed my meal off the list and that it would be 5-10 mins and would be free. When we got the bill I was advised that because I ate the food it would be charged at 85% (15% discount off £11.95). I would expect something more for the poor service and having to eat after everyone else had finished.

We all had nearly 7 drinks before any glassware was collected.

The food was 3 out of 10 at best, there was not enough sauce on any of the curries and the flat bread was as dry as toast!

I went to the bar to order another Gin as we had NO table service and was asked if it could go in a normal glass as they had run out of Gin glasses, I could count at least 30 empty ones on out table.

The way the complaint was handled was terrible.

We live a few minutes away, so this really should be out local pub, but in 6 years this was the first time we had eaten here and it will be the last!

We only picked this place as we were double booked at our other first choice.

Drinks are not too badly priced and food looked well presented, but I can't say anything else...

Great Evening with my husband and my 15 year old daughter. Felt very welcome as we arrived and threw out the night. Our meals were delicious, I am a veggie and chose the vegetarian curry, it came with rice and 2 lovely little naan breads, My husband and daughter had the spicy chicken burger with extra burger, and we all had clear plates. My daughter had the sticky toffee pudding and custard, she got half way threw, said she had enough. But decided to go back to it. Finished it completely. Hubby and I had black coffees, to finish.

We will most definitely be back with friends and when my daughter comes back over next..... Massive big Thank you to the Chef and all the staff...

Went for a work lunch and ordered the vegan curry and when it arrived it was only sauce and onion so I thought it must have been a mistake and when I went and spoke to the bar man he said no you need to order a side of veg and pay extra if you want vegetables in the vegan curry and that the curry only comes with onions in a shop bought sauce? How is that a vegan option? And the naan bread that came with it also wasn’t vegan I’m presuming which wasn’t mentioned! An absolute disgrace when the majority of people I know are vegetarian or vegan and they can’t even cook a bit of veg in the kitchen I’d make it better myself at home waste of money wouldn’t recommend...
