1/2 - Hi all,
This is the first time writing a poor negative review that my friends and I walked out of a restaurant.
We went for the view mainly and the view of the sea was amazing, the atmosphere was nice.
The staff were nice and friendly but unfortunately the services was poor. They didn't have some of the food on the menu, the price was over the top and food was plain.
The food came out, very very and I mean very small quantity of food on such are large plate and this was only the starters.
After the first 15mins of this experience we wanted to leave and asked for the bill. The people had to ask us 3 times about the bill as they were shocked and confused why we wanted to leave.
It is sad what happened and we hope this review get looked at by the owners and make some small adjustment for a better services overall for everyone.
2/2 - This is a response to the owners comments on this review.
Thank you for replying after over 2 months. I let to clear a few things up.
Yes we did not book and asked if there were any spaces and yes you gave us a window seat which a member of staff took us there which we were happy with.
You said in comment you were busy, it wasn't as busy as you make it out to be. The restaurant wasn't a full as there was so many empty tables in front/behind from where we were sitting and also enough empty tables on the far wall from the entrance. However what as customer may not see busy compared to someone running a business may seem to be busy.
The reviews here are the reason why we came to the restaurant in the first place. We saw many nice/positive reviews and a few negative reviews however we thought let us have our own experience and be the judge and unfortunately the experience didn't reflect the positive reviews upon us.
I am shocked from your next comment that we only had the intention of just ordering starters. This is a false statement by you and judging a book its cover SHAME ON YOU! We wanted to stay and order mains when we first arrive but the starters were small and not worth the money so my friends and I decided lets pay and go down road to the other Indian restaurant. A lot of the staff members were shocked when we asked for the bill and we had to ask it many times and different staff members kept coming up to us.
I wish we took pictures of the size of the starters and plate however a lot of the reviews on here last few months do say the portions/quantity is very small both starters and main.
Adequate car parking and easy access inside. The Restaurant has superb views across the bay. With it being a winters evening we could not appreciate them this time. We arrived having booked for 6.30am. It was winter and we preferred to reduce the risk travelling. Just ourselves and another couple were seated during the next 90 minutes in an enormous seating area. Gandhi's were taking lots of calls for takeway though. Please note they are not licensed. Its bring your own. They charged £4 corkage. They do offer soft drinks and non alcoholic beer and wine. I prefer a traditional curry both modern and traditional are available. We started with. 4 popadoms @£1.50 each 5 pickles including the onion. These were perfect. We chose a shared mixed starter from the many options at @£12.95. This too went down a treat. Two of each item. For the main course we both went Tradional. The wife for dopiaza and a chicken jalfrezi for me. She devoured hers. Mine was low on chicken enough just but you may prefer more meat. Having said that the dopiaza was £9.95 and the jalfrezi £12.95? So understandle perhaps. The food was served perfectly and hot. The curry consistency was a little sloppy for my taste but still good to eat and enjoy. To accompany we had pilau rice. We cut to one rather than two as usually one is enough for two. Here you may want to order two as it is a small dish. Two chappatis as well @£3.50 each were perfect. No chappatis and I may not go its a key thing for me. Served perfectly here. All in all a bill of just under £61 without tip. Good value. The place deserves more custom....
Read morePity the waitress had no customer service skills as we would have returned as the food was tasty. I ordered the Chicken Shashlick which came with a masala sauce. I asked if I could change the sauce if I ordered the dish. She said of course so I changed the sauce for a Pathia sauce. All was good until the bill came and she (the waitress) charged me an extra £5 on top of the already expensive £17. Would she take the £5 off? No chance! She just could not get her head around the fact I had asked her to swap the sauce, not for an additional sauce. When I ordered she did not state I would have to pay extra. Needless to say, I never left a tip so in the end it cost me no more but they (Gandhi) have lost business. If you decide to eat here and wish to change the curry sauce, ask will they...
