Al-Mihbash is a restaurant on the upper floors of a building near the Old City. The restaurant serves a range of food. But seems to specialise in East Jerusalem and Palestinian specialties.
Al-Mihbash is actually on the recommended list of Lonely Planet restaurants. It states: “Perch on an overhanging balcony table for a feast of Palestinian-style dishes, from fish kebabs and falafel to stuffed chicken, along with enough Mediterranean salmon fillets and steaks to keep homesick expats happy. Smashed avocado and almond smoothies also feature on the somewhat scattered menu. Service is perfunctory, but food (and views) are great.
Pro: The Palestinian Musakhan chicken main course was tasty. Liked the generous cooked onions. The starter aubergine Baba Ghanoush was nice and creamy with a nice texture. A two course meal with water came to 84 shekels or 24 USD which seems fair. Service was friendly. There is also free WiFi for customers and a nice ambient mood music which creates a nice atmosphere for customers
Cons: The restaurant was surprisingly non busy. A real shame they don’t do more business. Also the restaurant is cash only. They lack the means to accept credit cards. A real shame really.
In short, if this is your first night in East Jerusalem. I would recommend coming here. It’s a good restaurant. A good introduction to Palestinian and East Jerusalem dishes. A shame they don’t accept...
Read moreBest place to have dinner or lunch in Jerusalem. They have tipical food from Israel but I recomend to try the palestinian food...it is great and really different from what you find anywhere else. The restaurant has arabic decoration and it is really quiet and comfortable. If you are lucky you can have a table by one of the three balconies with amazing views. The guys there are really nice and will help you out with any doubt about the food or tourism. Ask for Abu if you want info about touristical routes, he is a palestinian that apparently goes there on a daily basis. He took us (4 people) to the nativity church and his explanations about the country while on route were worth a lot!! Regards from the Basque country guys, we will be back for...
Read moreWe have read good reviews and decided to try. Were really disappointed.
The dishes are expensive but not at restaurant level: musakka contained mainly bread covered with onion with little chicken. "Kebab" turned out to be meatballs, not grilled meat like the waitress told us. In general, service is at 0, the waiters don't know the menu of the restaurants.
They served nothing on the table except the ordered dishes - even no bread. No glass of water to arabic strong coffee. It is like we came to the food court or smth. The waiters did their own business at the nearby table, no attention at...
