Melino's — Restaurant in Aci Castello

Came in early (20:15) on a Sunday night. Nice welcome. We didn't reserve so we got a table on a narrow balcony. It was early so it's possible the bread wasn't ready yet, because the stale bread we got was terrible. We ordered the fried calamari as an appetizer. 10 euros for 12 pieces of bad calamari. I didn't know rubber bands cost so much in Acitrezza! My wife got the pizza margherita, it should have been a safe choice, it wasn't. Doughy, slightly undercooked crust, sour sauce and tasteless cheese. Had to be a bad night at the pizza oven because the reviews I read raved about the pizza. I got the pasta Norma. The boxed rotini was a nice al dente but eggplant was not heated thru and sauce was the same as on the pizza. Still, out of the 3 items we ordered, this was the best. 2 good complementary lemon sorbets could not salvage the meal. Is it possible that the restaurant has new owners? I've lived here for only two years now, but I've lived a stone's throw from this restaurant. When i first moved to Sicily, these people made me feel really welcome, and now they're almost like family!

I LOVE pizza, and I've eaten it all over the Island of Sicily, but THIS restaurant has the BEST pizzas I've tasted. Though the toppings are somewhat similar to other restaurants the entire pizza has flavor, I even have to ask my wife to eat her crust because the bread is so good!

Besides pizza, they've got an amazing menu, a very friendly staff, and a beautiful scenic patio of the water of Aci Trezza. Can't brag about this...

Unfortunately the food was very bland. We had pasta with mussels and pasta alla norma. The mussels had no flavor to them and the adjoining pasta did not taste like anything other than garlic - overall pretty disappointing. The pasta alla norma was ok but nothing special. We could easily recreate both dishes at home so no need to go to...
