La Torre – Bar Ristorante — Restaurant in Alghero

I only give it 1 star because of the attitude of the staff, which was quite surprising for us knowing that Italians are usually really friendly. We arrived at 11 AM and asked about the kitchen being opened. A lady from the staff said that not until 12:30. We waited until that time only to tell us afterwards that the restaurant is fully booked 🤷‍♀️and why didn’t we make a reservation. First of all, they could’ve told us that we needed to reserve a table when we arrived at 11 and asked about the kitchen! Secondly, we are tourists, off season, and throughout our one week stay in Alghero we didn’t encounter any issues with tables not being available. We had more issues with not finding open places. I was a but confused about the different feedback below to be honest, but I’m very happy that I went - my spaghetti alle vongole with bottarga was to die for, absolutely delicious! I think it’s important to manage expectations when you’re going to a beach front restaurant, and my expectations were exceeded. They had a lot of locals come for lunch while we were there, so that says a lot. They also have a very short menu which makes sure they specialize on those dishes, and then it’s also easy to choose. 3 people dine in. We order the fried squid with a side of potatoes which on the menu was 20 euros. The waiter brings a plate with about 1 portion and a half worth of fried squid. Then we ask where the potatoes are. They respond nicely and say they are sorry for making the mistake. The potatoes arrive seperate and they are the frozen version bought in bags. When its time to pay we pay an absurd price for what was brought. The place seemed nice at first. The location is on the seaside but that doesnt justify the small portions and high prices.
