Ristorante Pizzeria Il Paguro — Restaurant in Alghero

We had a very average to poor experience here on a Sunday evening. The Caprese salad was disappointing as the tomatoes were rather green (not ripe) and tasteless & the basil had large, bitter leaves. Costing €12.50 I had expected much much better. The grilled red chicory was rather good. One pizza was good, the other poor. I had the mixed mushroom with buffalo mozzarella. The pizza came out with a layer of liquid on top that made the undercooked base very soggy. I suspect the mushrooms were frozen and they didn’t cook it long enough but if they did then the mozzarella would burn. Really poor cooking here or they don’t care as the tourists normally only come once to the restaurant. Go for the standard pizza. We didn’t have the pasta but at the table next door the portion sizes looked small. Overall it wasn’t good value. The place is busy, so I suggest you make a reservation. Have been visiting this restaurant for years and it is my favourite; I always recommend it to anyone staying in the area. I think it is excellent value for money, have on several occasions when eating on Alghero restaurants thought 'I would have had better food and paid less at il Paguro'. I particularly like the potato and octopus salad as a starter and rose di orate or fillet steak as main course. With the rose di orate you don't need to order side dishes as the filleted fish is cooked in wine with potato, mussels, carrots and other veg. Siamo partiti con l'idea di mangiare pesce Quindi chiamiamo e chiediamo cosa fanno di buono e per prenotare per la sera stessa. Appena arrivati ci fanno accomodare al tavolo che, nonostante fossimo arrivati 10 min dopo l'orario della prenotazione , non era ancora pronto e ci fanno accomodare in un tavolo da ristorante con sedie bianche da bar in plastica (ehm ok almeno erano comode) Chiamiamo un cameriere per ordinare e lui ci rimanda al maitre che poteva solo lui prende l'ordine. Arriva il maitre che prende l'ordinazione con la raccomandazione di portare il calamaro alla griglia senza condimenti e portare assieme tartara di tonno e il fritto di calamari. Dopo diverso tempo di attesa finalmente vediamo arrivare la tartara (nulla di eccezionale per valere 17€),le patatine fritte e il calamaro (ovviamente con condimento) quindi abbiamo dovuto mandarlo indietro per via delle intolleranze che abbiamo. Successivamente fa' tempo ad arrivare il calamaro senza condimento piuttosto che il fritto di calamari, interpellati i camerieri più volte dicevano che stava pe arrivare ma sono passati almeno 10/15 Min buoni Intanto chiedo delle salse da mangiare con le patate (che non avevano sale e non c'era al tavolo quindi ho dovuto chiedere) , si presenta il cameriere con 1 bustina di ketchup e 1 di maionese.. gli ho dovuto chiedere se ne avesse qualcuna in più anziché tipo arrivare con un contenitore con 3/4 salse per tipo sale ecc come tutti gli altri ristoranti Finalmente sono arrivati i calamari, ovviamente non salati, e poi ho chiesto a 2 camerieri diversi (perché la prima si perdeva) di avere dei limoni in più da spremere sul fritto Per il dolce siamo andati da...
