Sottoprua — Restaurant in Alghero

I don't know where to start because I'm still completely overwhelmed by yesterday's dinner. This place just completed our sardinian trip and took us to another level local food experience. We got really spontaneous and pretty late to the restaurant and didn't know if it's even opened and still don't know if they only cooked just for us. The spot is really cosy but still classy. The personal was absolutely solicitous and really take care of us and did an amazing job letting us know what's in the menu, what food we were about to eat, where the products are coming from and what are the tradition and history behind every dish. We got at the beginning more than 4 typically local breads til we our main dishes arrived. The main dishes were 3 absolutely mind blowing local dishes which were brought beautifully and were cooked amazing. The desserts were fresh made, delightful and tasty. And the cherry on top was really how the whole team took its time to write us down all the hidden gems in the area which we need to visit and explore.

Really high quality service and good vibes, but when it comes to food it’s worse. I ordered octopus, and nothing in the menu says it’s actually a cold dish. Portions are small (if you want to eat to the fullest). Octopus was prepared properly but there was a problem with cooked potatoes underneath. Bland, watery because of soaking the weird vinegary tasting sauce, it made me feel sick after eating this dish. The temperature of this dish and those weird consistency potatoes gave me shivers and weird aftertaste. There was a problem with other dishes too. 17€ for gniocchi with some kind of sausage? Oily and bland, tasted like dish made by a kid, not by chef who claims that he’s good. Prices are way too high for what this...

Normaal schrijf ik nooit een recensie teveel gedoe en geen zin in maar dit restaurant spant echt de kroon dus bij deze ga ik nu ff los…Waar moet ik beginnen….ik begrijp de recensies niet zo goed? We zijn een gezin van 3 personen met een meisje van 9 jaar. Ober was in het begin heel amicaal en vertelde een hoop lariekoek dat ze echt exclusieve gerechten hadden…..nou een bombari….ze hadden voor mn dochter een pasta bolognese met saus apart gemaakt maar de schelpjes pasta hebben ze gewoon uit de plaatselijke supermarkt gehaald want die kan ik thuis ook maken de saus erbij was een minischaaltje bolognese met ook parmesan uit de plaatselijke supermarkt. Vervolgens had mn partner een Schrimp carpaccio besteld het waren letterlijk 2 platgestampte garnalen met wat prut erop ohja niet geheel onbelangrijk sommige stukken waren nog te koud om te eten (bevroren) dus niet vers maar uit de vriezer. Er zaten wat kwakjes saus op best smaakloos. Ik had een Schrimp ravioli…smaakte ok maar het waren serieus 6 stukjes ravioli. Dus voor onze nuchtere Hollandse maatstaven toch echt te weinig. Over het mandje dood brood zal ik maar niks vertellen, iig niet te eten voor mensen met een kunstgebit. Al met al 86 euro moeten betalen. Helaas was de dichtstbijzijnde Mc Donalds 26 km verderop anders waren we daar nog even langsgereden. Serieus mensen ga hier niet heen echt een deceptie….. oh en de de amicale ober in het begin vh verhaal liet niks meer van zich zien of horen nadat we hadden gegeten ook niemand die ons gedag zei na het eten. Ohja en waar we ons sowieso over verbazen is dat ze bij elk restaurants zeggen dat ze vol zitten maar als we blijven eten hele avond alle tafels vrij hebben...
