convinced la mama to get in the back of a scooter 🛵 with me in Capri! Thin intertwining roads with spectacular views of the coast. On our way we saw mother Mary on a hill, we stopped to pray and give thanks. It was so special how we found this place soon after. There was a sign to a restaurant called A’ curtiglia. Wow! All I can say is this was the most amazing dining experience I’ve ever had! I felt like I was home with my family. They let us pick our own pomodoro and basil for our meal from their garden. I ordered the most exquisite ravioli and my mother a warm plate of gnocchi 😋😍 we started off with her amazing recommendation of the caprese salad and I gained life with every bite! We walked around their beautiful garden as freely as we wished. They spoke about their fresh ingredients, the beautiful life in Italy and were so warm and inviting. The energy was so pure and clean I could feel only love around me and the view of the ocean was breathtaking! My mother started crying when they let her pick her tomatoes, I started to get emotional because it felt like the moment was a gift from God! We were so thankful for every bite! It was truly the most amazing Italian food I’ve had in my life! And I love to eat so I would know! As I was leaving the family home restaurant on the hill, I hugged the family and had tears again! I felt like I knew these people like they could easily be my family! Maybe in another lifetime they were! I’ve never felt so perfectly at home in any restaurant ever! I was grateful for every bite as I felt it was a bite straight from heaven. I cried all over my plate with tears of blissful joy! My heart overflowed with so much gratefulness in that moment that my physical body couldn’t handle it and so I laughed and cried and looked at my mother sitting across the table from me and said to her this is a Moment I’ll never forget. I’ll have this family in my heart forever and I hope to one day return and see them again to hopefully share a meal with them once more! It was so hard to say goodbye. If you are ever in Capri! This is my number one recommendation! It’s in the way to faro beach! 🙏🏼❤️ #gratzi ...
Read moreDon't, don't, don't waist your time on Capri eating here! We're foodies but we don't enjoy pretentious overpriced restaurants, we prefer to eat home-made simple food with fresh ingredients in relaxed setting. This is why I was attracted to this restaurants, amazing reviews made it sound like that. Remote location near Faro was also tempting -- we really wanted to escape the crowds in Capri and pretentious restaurants on that side of the island. So we gave it a try. And it was total disaster! Perhaps it is better during the daylight when the view is there. But ambience in the evening was totally awful -- fake plastic flowers, cheep tablecloths, overly lit space and some bad radio music. There were perhaps only three or four more tables taken, so it was rather empty and everyone else was having pizza! I ordered caponata, which came microwaved and dry, poorly prepared. My partner had caprese pasta, the filling was gummy cheese, it didn't feel special in any way. House wine was 25 EUR / bottle and was really worth 5 EUR the most -- the cheep vino from grocery stores. Olive oil we got for our salad was the cheapest commercial kind from the grocery stores. I doubt we would ever gave it a try haven't we had amazing dinner at agroturismo Da Gelsomina the night before. Given the reviews, this place made us believe it is similar -- home-made simple food in relaxed ambiance, family run restaurants. And it is really not. There are so many fantastic restaurants on Island of Capri, there is no reason to waist your night here if you are serious about food and if you (somewhat) care...
Read moreCan I give this 6 stars? This is by far our favourite restaurant during our 2 week visit in Italy - let alone Capri. We went made a reservation for round 2 next day, while we were waiting for our bill! The food in insane and very affordable for Capri. The best pasta (scialatielli) we had in our life! And what's up with the stale bread in Italy? The bread served here is baked fresh (finally!)- it was so good we asked for a second basket!
The family operated staff are super friendly and chill - Giuseppe is a young man who is the star of the show. Super nice guy and charming. We were running late on our 2nd visit and after calling them to let them know, they were super accommodating and arranged for their shuttle (free) to pick us when we arrived to Anacapri by bus. Perhaps, the best part is the view at sunset - UNBELIEVABLE! and I don't care much for sunsets! Try to reserve a table at 7pm to experience this beautiful sunset.
Forget the fact that they have the worst website in existence lol. If you are reading this review - you must go here! Avoid the traps in Capri - this is the real deal from an honest hard working family. It's worth the taxi/bus from Capri to the absolutely gem...
