This lovely park and the Villa Jovis on the opposite corner of the island offer in my opinion the two most stunning oceanside vistas on Capri. The Parco filosofico can be reached by taking the Via Petraquale, which begins south of and down the hill from Anacapri town; the climb up the road to the park is relentless and not for the faint of heart, but the beauty of the place and its views are well worth it. The short, winding trails are thoughtfully ornamented with plaques bearing introspective quotes, a garden dedicated to the Virgin, an incredible lookout over the Fariglioni to the east and the Faro lighthouse to the west, and even a tiny amphitheatre. Read moreThis park is a quiet escape from the hordes of tourists on Capri. Take the walk - about 45min to the edge of the island. The Philosophical park is interesting - but the real gem lies about 100 meters from there to the absolutely breath-taking view of the bay at the end of the island.
The serenity is worth the walk.
There is a restaurant just across from the Philosophical park. It is convenient - but the food was only so-so - but acceptable if not a tad bit expensive - perhaps it is hard to get to?

Read moreSo full disclosure we didn't manage to make it to this beautiful place and neither did the people we travelled with despite our best efforts as we ran out of time. Capri is not a well-mapped place when you get there and it took a while to get our bearings. To get here you'll need to get to Piazza Vittoria square and then walk (cars not possible on the roads) for 20-30 minutes through narrow streets - bring a map or have good internet to google map...
