Trattoria Carlito — Restaurant in Arenzano

This review is clearly based solely on my experience, and as a such I've to make a disclaimer: the food I ordered was not necessarily part of the local tradition. A cotoletta alla Milanese and a salmon steak with gratinated fennels. Also I didn't appreciate the fact the battered vegetables (clearly frozen) have been not indicated as such.

Overall the food was ok, but this is my main point of concerns; this place has been indicated to us as the best for local recipes and food, and just the fact those two recipes were part of the menu, have brought my score down by one star.

That said, the place is clearly on the walkway, and having some privacy is a forbidden concept due to both the passers by and locals entering the main gate where the restaurant has four tables in the outside street.

The kitchen is very small, and whilst ok for a one man band chef, it still comes with limited to both the available space and equipments that means some delays in receiving the food.

The external seating and arrangement are very basic, incomparable with the more rustic wooden ones inside the place.

Arredamento voto 7 Trattoria di pesce un po' piccola situata nel sempre bello centro storico di Arenzano, gli interni sono ben realizzati seguendo lo stile classico "marinaresco" con forte predominanza di bianco e azzurro, inoltre nel periodo estivo sono presenti all'esterno 2-3 tavolini per mangiare fuori. Nel complesso lo abbiamo trovato ben curato e confortevole.

Menù voto 7 Abbiamo preso come primo dei deliziosi spaghetti alle vongole, anche se c'era una piccola presenza in più di olio, e delle linguine con bottarga di tonno e polpa di ricci, alcuni spaghetti li ho trovati "collosi" per via della troppa cottura della pasta, però devo dire nel complesso mi sono piaciuti. Come secondo una porzione, esagerata ad essere onesti, ma comunque buonissima di frittura mista di pesce, e dei calamaretti novelli cucinati fritti, piatto non tanto bello da vedere ma anche questo mi è risultato molto buono. Vista la gran quantità di fritto misto avanzato abbiamo chiesto se ce lo potevano mettere in una confezione da portare via, perché sinceramente era uno spreco buttarlo visto che era molto buono, la nostra richiesta è stata accettata con molta gentilezza e ne siamo rimasti molto soddisfatti!!. Come dolce ho preso una cheesecake ai frutti di bosco, che mmmmmm insomma non mi ha lasciato molto soddisfatto come gusto, ne ho mangiate di migliori.

Servizio voto 6.5 Un po' troppa attesa per avere il menù, per il resto tempi di attesa nella media.

Conto voto 8.5 Onestamente non so se il pesce era fresco, comunque il conto è veramente vantaggioso in rapporto a quello che abbiamo mangiato. E un po' un "bestbuy" da provare come cucina di pesce 😉

very nice food and nice coastal vibe going on with the place. I really dig the driftwood decorations. the fassona tartare with truffle is stellar, and so are the purple shrimp. quick note: raw shrimp + lemon mayo is not an ideal pairing. the shrimp are very delicate in flavour, and the greaseiness of the mayo disrupts the subtle flavours of the meat, making it rather distasteful.
