Le Cadran Solaire is a restaurant that combines both very traditional Alpine food, with Italian classics found elsewhere in the country. To start I had the mixed salad (for as well as I could interpret it) which had corn, tomatoes, and ham, which you could drizzle with both olive oil and balsamic vinegar. For my entreé I had the pork shank, which was stuffed with cheese and shaved meat, and served with roasted potatoes that were very delicious. This was clearly a classic meal, and could easily feed two to three people with moderate appetites. For dessert I sampled both the lemon cake as well as the chocolate dessert. The lemon cake had a mild flavor, and was both light, and moist. The chocolate dessert was reminiscent of a chocolate rice crispy but was served cold, with dollops of cream on the side. Simple, yet delicious with a satisfying crunch.
My party sat outside and although the weather was nice, I would recommend making a reservation for inside as there...
Read moreFind it, book it, enjoy it. Small valdostane restaurant, with a stunning quality of food and interesting interpretations of traditional dishes. I had dinner two times in a 2 days stay. I wanted the second dinner there to taste specialties I could not taste the first day. I liked a lot the flan of the day (peperoni based) served with a fondue of blue d’ayas cheese, the costata, served like a cordon bleu stuffed with ham and cheese, and an amazing risotto with apples and toma cheese. Lastly, the semifreddo all’amaretto is an option to taste. Staff and service were very home style,; waiters are very gentle and made me feel like at home. Venue is located in a tiny secondary street in Sntagnod, making it very special. It is very small, with 5-6 tables (can host 15-30 people max, so...
