We were staying just down the road at Castello Del Nero and always keen to try local food. Lovely feel to this restaurant inside, to contrasting rooms - one as shown in pic here is entrance and one big table and the second where the main dining room is has much more contemporary feel with an unusual but fun slideshow of the couple's travels round the world - started a few conversation amongst the international diners. We had cheese and cold meats to start and pasta for mains - our service could have been a little friendlier. I had the house duck pasta which was excellent whilst trying a great bottle of wine. Amuse bouche served as surprise which was not my taste but very appreciated. Give this place a go if in the area.

We organized a pasta making class here with a large group of family and friends, followed by an amazing multi-course dinner of all the pasta we made. Massimo and Cecilia are absolutely wonderful; they were so kind and welcoming, and working with them to orgnise the class was very easy. Each pasta course they prepared for us was delicious and authentic, and the restuarant setting was delightfully cozy and charming. We left extremely happy, full, and inspired to buy our own pasta machine (prefect to try recipies from their cookbook, which we could not leave without)! Thank you Massimo and Cecilia for a fantastic experience!

NO THANKS ! To begin with, we were served bread, which was nothing exciting—dry and tasteless. We had to ask for oil and salt ourselves. After ordering the food, we had to wait 1.5 hours for it, and it was served cold. None of us were full, and the food was really nothing special; several of the dishes lacked flavor entirely! As if that wasn't enough, the waiter asked for a tip! They have a bunch of Michelin stickers on the door, as if they are anywhere close to offering food worth eating. It is absolutely not recommendable!

So wonderful. We took their cooking course (you can find details about it online their website and email them to book - they responded pretty quickly for a last minute request).

We found the pasta making class with Cecilia (the main chef, partner owner, and lovely woman all around) so fun, hands-on, and charming. She then cooked all the pasta we made across multiple variations of the sauces the restaurant has to offer. Her husband Massimo (who also owns the restaurant and is the wine sommelier) gave us great wine recommendations and was extremely knowledgeable about the culture, history, and the food. They are the perfect duo to give you a very loved and authentic Tuscany experience.

If the food we tasted with the pasta we made is indicative of the food available to eat at the restaurant - you are in for a treat. They embrace the season, the crops, and the passed down generations of recipes in their kitchen.

Massimo also hosts a truffle finding excursion of which the restaurant will incorporate in your food - I imagine this experience also being unique, hands-on, and one of a kind.

This family is one to seek out for the all experiences they have to offer as they invite you to embrace the lifestyle of a true Tuscan local - I love them for opening that up to people and likely something difficult to find...

Wir kamen spontan, ohne zu reservieren. Wir haben gleich den Tisch bekommen, weil es viele freie Tische gab. Der Tisch war nett mit einer bunten Schachtel dekoriert, in der das Besteck und die Stoffserviette verborgen waren. Die Speisekarte war auf italienisch und auf englisch. Der Besitzer sprach sehr gut englisch und konnte uns die Gerichte erklären. Ich muss dazu sagen, dass mein Freund und ich die englische Sprache nicht mächtig sind. Es kann sein, dass die Fragen nicht vollständig und nicht komplett verständlich für Service waren. Aber wir haben geschafft unser Essen zu bestellen 😊 Wir haben große Flasche Wasser (0,75l) und ein Bier (0,66l) bestellt. Wir kamen mit unserem Hund, dem aber kein Wasser hingestellt wurde. Wir wurden sogar nicht gefragt, ob unser Hund Wasser bräuchte. Unsere Vorspeise sollte die Vielfalt von Käse und Wurst sein... Wir haben fünf dünn geschnittene Scheiben von zwei Sorten Salami, drei Scheiben von Seranoschinken und zwei kleine Käsestücke bekommen (€15,00). Das Brot (zwei Sorten) haben wir genügend bekommen, aber es war schon angetrocknet. Nachdem die Vorspeise serviert wurde, kamen die Menagen auf den Tisch erst nach unserer Nachfrage. Nach der Vorspeise haben wir noch kleine Portion von Pici bekommen. Ich dachte, dass es ein kleiner Gruß aus der Küche war. In guten Restaurants wird ein Zwischengericht ab und zu aufs Haus serviert. Der Chef erklärte uns wie das Gericht heißt und wie es zubereitet wird. Ich habe nur dazu gesagt, dass es für mich scharf sei, aber es schmeckte uns gut. Die Hauptspeisen.... Mein Gericht war Hot Dog mit der Bratwurst (kam aus der Region), Sauerkraut (habe nur Essig rausgeschmeckt) und Pommes (sehr wenig, kalt und lasch). Das Brötchen dazu war OK. Die Bratwurst schmeckte nach nichts, keine Gewürze drin. Ausser diese drei Zutaten waren paar Blätter Salat, zwei kleine Tomaten und drei Schälchen jeweils mit Mayo, Senf und roter Sauce auf dem Teller zu sehen (16,00€). Mein Freund hat Ossobuco mit einer kleinen Kugel Polenta bekommen. Das Fleisch hat meinem Freund durschnittlich geschmeckt genauso wie Polenta (18,00€). Was für Auge, meine Dekoration, hat es gefehlt. Wir fanden das Essen lieblos serviert zu bekommen. Als Nachtisch habe ich mir das Edbeertiramisu bestellt. Ehrlich...... ich kann besser das machen. Ich habe das Gefühl gehabt, dass das Tiramisu a la Minute gemacht wurde. Biskuit war nicht durchgezogen, die Erdbeeren waren nur auf der oberen Schicht zu sehen (8,00€). Grundsätzlich schmeckte es nur noch nach fettiger Mascarpone. Mein Freund hat für mich ein Aperol Spritz (7,00€) bestellt. Dieses Getränk hat mir geschmeckt. Für sich wollte er ein kleines Bier. Nein, es gibt nur großes. Keine Alternative. Die Flasche wurde zum Tisch gebracht, geöffnet und weit weg von meinem Freund auf den Tisch gestellt. Die leere Flasche wurde nicht mitgenommen. Service hat viele Leerläufe gehabt, keinen Augenkontakt mit uns gehabt. Von anderen Gästen kann ich nicht sprechen. Nachdem Espresso bestellt und ausgetrunken war, hatten wir ziemlich lange auf Service gewartet, um zu sagen, dass wir zahlen wollen. Die Rechnung lag auf dem Tisch endlich. Da haben wir uns große Augen gemacht....... Das Gericht Pici stand auf unserer Rechnung - €16,00. Wir sind der Meinung, dass wir darüber informiert werden müssten, dass das Gericht was kostet. Und nicht einfach auf den Tisch stellen und zum Essen anbieten. Oder weil wir nicht gut englisch können, kann man sowas erlauben!? Und hier geht es nicht ums Geld, sondern um die Art und Weise, wie es mit uns umgegangen wurde. Wir haben die Rechnung natürlich beglichen, aber bitterer Nachgeschmack ist geblieben. Nie wieder! Will be more precise: 1) no bread was offered to us; 2) all our family was served and finished eating and I was offered nothing and no comments were given during the service. Only when I requested I was told that it will be coming 3) when my food arrived after a long waiting it was not tasty at all: there was no sauce in my pasta, it was very salty, 2 small pieces of pumpkin and no sausage although the dish name was “chestnut pasta with pumpkin and sausage” 4) waiter was rude 5) dessert for my aunt came late after the request 6) we asked to bring 2 spoons for the pumpkin soup to share, but were given just 1 and when my father was trying to call waiter for the second spoon the waiter just disappeared after seeing that he was called. Enough for a poor rating. And on top I put a poor rating earlier and got a rude reply from the restaurant as a reply instead of apologize. What a waste of...
