Ristorante Borgo Antico — Restaurant in Barberino Tavarnelle

It was our first day in Italy, after 12 hours of traveling and sightseeing, when we arrived there (quite late, to be honest) and asked if they could do anything for us, even though they were closing in about an hour. They kindly asked us to wait for 20 minutes and then served us a lovely meal. we asked for 2 glasses of white wine and one of red as we are waiting. They brought as the glass of red and a full bottle of white wine and told as that we will pay for the 2 glasses of white and the rest is on the house. they forgot one of the dishes, but when we mentioned (even it was pretty late) the cook prepare asap and came to our table to apologize.

A few days later, while visiting another region, we didn’t manage to eat and decided to go back again — once more arriving late and without a reservation. They checked with the cook, and once again managed to serve us. The brought as a plate that it was not for our table. when we told them that, they said..ok it is a mistake but never mind ..eat it ..its on the house..

So mistakes happen.. its normal.. how you manage them make the difference and they were exceptional.

They are very polite and kind, with humour and make you feel like you eat to a restaurant that you know everybody.

Regarding the food it is very tasty, with good portions and allot of options (i guess thats why they dont have fresh pasta). Prices are more than fair for the quality and quantity.

We truly couldn’t not say enough about Ristorante Borgo Antico - the women who served us was just as great as the food and the atmosphere. This place felt truly authentic. It was warm and welcoming and the food was spectacular - we did not leave one morsel of food on the plate.

In all honesty we had reservations at a Michelin started restaurant but decided to cancel because we had a long day and were too tired to sit through a 3 course meal. However after landing at Ristorante Borgo Antico I would choose them over a Michelin star restaurant any day of the week. The food was AMAZING, the service was world class, price was unbeatable, and the vibe was warm and welcoming.

The food is delicious. Traditional Tuscan cooking with no pretences. It's hearty, it's comforting, it's satisfying. As wonderful as the cooking is, it's the staff here that make this a truly memorable place. They are quirky in a uniquely charming way. They make sure you order just right and will make no bones about telling you if you are ordering way too much. We love this place and would highly recommend it.
