Il Grottino — Restaurant in Bari

We saw the reviews online so we decided to give this place a try. We showed up a few minutes before they opened because we were worried there would be a queue because of the excellent reviews we saw. They were still setting up the restaurant when we arrived but treated us like family and insisted we sit down. They recommended us pizzas and made it a very personal experience for us. The chef came to check on us to make sure we were happy.

Now to the quality and taste of their pizza… My fiancé and I were in utterly disbelief when we were eating the pizzas. The flavors were bursting, the crust was think and crispy. The cheese was so flavorful but not too cheesy. I mean wow- this was one of the best pizzas we have ever tried. We even got a Nutella pizza for dessert and the crust was so warm it made the chocolate so delicious. We are bringing a Margherita pizza back to the hotel for a late...

Sadly, we were quite disappointed with the whole experience. We found this place based on how it was highly rated and recommended, so we decided to give it a try. We ordered pizza, that definitely didn’t fit the italian standard. Pizza dough and the edges were very thin and burned with little to none main ingredients added. This was very disappointing to me, cause whenever i came to Italy, the pizza was just incomparable to what we had at home. To add ur drinks were served in plastic cups. When we decided to pay it was very chaotic, it seemed like they had no system in coordinating...

An absolute disappointment. We couldn't ask for an appetizer from the menu, only pizza. Italian people were having dinner at the tables around us, their pizzas were apparently well loaded with toppings. The pizzas we ordered had either no toppings as per the menu (Bufalina) or very little (Calabrese). Open discrimination against foreign tourists! I won't come here again, I got really upset.
