Pizzeria Sant'Ampelio — Restaurant in Bordighera

As an American visitor , it's important to share honest opinions of food reviews to help out other visitors.. The person who took my order spoke good enough English to help me choose; he was personable, kind. They have a nice outside patio. The food quality is different though. The pizza is thin crust; flavor is okay. I ordered Margherita which is like just Cheese pizza. Our pepperoni pizza is their Salame pizza ( he said pepperoni in Italian is the vege peppers.) Their Lasagna is a flat layer of cheese with vegetables, not even any lasagna noodles or ricotta. You could scoop it instead of "Spatula- ing" it. The calzone with ham is a hollow large pita kind, filled with soggy juice and rolled up "deli- looking " ham and a layer of cheese . No flavor at all. So i opened up the pita , ate the deli ham, and dipped the pita and crust in oil/ balsamic, which gave it the most flavor..that's sad!

I also ordered the Calzone with no onions. Guess what?!! It was filled with red onions that I had to...

I do not agree it is the best pizza in bordighera. The food is average. I used to go there a lot. Once I had a bottle of Prosecco, the girl said she gave me a good discount so the price was “only” 20€. Later I saw the same Prosecco in the supermarket for €4,20. But what really made me stop going there is the rudeness of the staff and now it’s summer they really don’t care anymore. Prima e ultima esperienza in questo locale. Siamo andati a cena con la mia ragazza in settimana e pur avendo prenotato con largo anticipo siamo stati piazzati in un tavolino minuscolo praticamente a lato strada. Al servizio ho dato uno sia per la sgarbatezza e i modi spiccioli dei camerieri e del gestore, per non parlare dei tavolini in plastica stile baretto sistemati uno attaccato all'altro. Mentre stavamo aspettando le pizze una signora seduta nel tavolo affianco al nostro si è messa a fumare per tutto il tempo.. abbiamo chiesto gentilmente ad un cameriere se c'era la possibilità di cambiarci di posto essendocene stato uno libero poco più distante e ci è stato detto in modo piuttosto sgarbato che quel tavolo gli serviva vuoto. Dato che purtroppo la signora affianco continuava a fumare e sinceramente non riuscivamo a mangiare con la puzza di fumo che arrivava verso di noi allora ho chiesto direttamente al gestore di poterci spostare in un altro tavolo che si era liberato nel frattempo. Dopo aver insistito un po' finalmente ci è stato permesso di spostarci. Per quanto riguarda il cibo le pizze erano molto sottili a livello cartonato e come gusto appena percettibile. Inoltre sono quasi certo che i camerieri fossero entrambi ragazzi minorenni alle prime armi. Chicca finale: il famoso tavolino è rimasto libero anche quando ce ne siamo andati... Chissà forse era per qualche...
