Ristorante Pizzeria Il Rustico — Restaurant in Borgo Val di Taro

I expected a pizzeria and instead found a lovely little restaurant that served specials created with the local porcini mushrooms of the area. I had a wonderful meal!

But I also noticed two things that make me give this restaurant five stars and both deal with hospitality. First, a group of laborers, all Peruvians being sponsored in Italy and still wearing their work clothes, came in for a meal and were treated with dignity and friendliness - even the cook came out to say hello to them, giving me the impression they had found a "home" thousands of miles from their native land. Second, two elderly gentlemen came in and sat down - and without ordering, a bottle of red wine and bowls of soup were immediately served to them. Salumi misti scarsi e con contenuta la cotega (cotenna), non apprezzata sul punto di vista visivo perché su una fetta di salame c'era una ciglia, portate scarse per il proprio prezzo. Tortelli alla parmigiana con molto ripieno di ricotta e poco d'erbetta. SOMMERSI DALL'OLIO. cinghiale con la polenta: il cinghiale sembrava cotto 10 giorni prima e la polenta abbastanza buona dai. I prezzi dei dolci sono come quelli dei fornai; ma qua ti danno una fetta mini e dal Panettiere la torta intera. Prezzo esorbitante (tra l'altro la torta al cioccolato era gommosa e quasi immangiabile). Meglio prenotare su thefork almeno se mangiate male c'è...
