Ristorante Otello 2.0 — Restaurant in Campiglia Marittima

The polpo was interesting with a salsina that seemed to be an olive oil and honey mixture. The frittura was abbondante but a bit oily. The spadellata of calamari was tender but not so much calamari and the peperoni as the choice of vegetable did not work well. The tagliata was so tough it was inedible. It had been cooked al sangue but then sliced and thrown on the grill again so it arrived at the table tough and mostly a medium cottura. The best thing about the restaurant was the house wine, especially the vermentino. We are sorely disappointed as we looked forward...

Excellent service, great selection on a chalk-board menu. No English translations, but hey, we all use Google translate. Staff speak basic English, but you can get by. Menu is mostly seafood based, but there are beef and pork options. Not much for vegetarians, but my menu-Italian is dodgy. I was staying at the Hotel Grecale, and they gave me a discount coupon. I wound up going to the Otello two nights running. Very good value for excellent Tuscan food. Plenty of parking, and there is dining...

Un ambiente molto grande e alquanto algido (Marc Augè avrebbe detto un non luogo), corredato alle pareti di televisori che trasmettono RTL TV (il ché spinge il livello del locale più in basso). Il servizio è gentile, veloce, premuroso e simpatico. Difficile far di meglio. Ho delle perplessità sul cibo. Ho visto in altre recensioni LO STESSO menù di pesce da cui ho scelto io. Difficile mantenere la costanza se si usa il pescato fresco del giorno (traete voi le conclusioni). Non ti forniscono una carta dei vini né ti dicono quanto costa quello della casa. Proponevano il cacciucco (4 c per favore) ma nessuna indicazione del prezzo. Così come nei menù appesi sulle lavagne non si indica l'esoso coperto 2,5 per un cestino di pane del giorno prima (non penso si possa non segnalare il coperto). Abbiamo mangiato una battuta di tonno buona ma non sorprendente insieme a delle polpettine di ceci molto semplici ma costose visto quello che erano. Di primo abbiamo mangiato dei ravioli maremmani al ragù, decenti, e degli spaghetti vongole e bottarga. Gli spaghetti erano troppo al dente, le vongole mal spurgate e la bottarga era passata a fare un salutino ma non è restata... Dolci molto standard probabilmente non fatti in casa. Il conto: 2 antipasti, 2 primi, 2 Dolci, 2 bottiglie d'acqua 76€. Se siete clienti che amano il buon mangiare in un ambiente caldo e accogliente, questo non è il vostro ristorante. Finito di mangiare si ha voglia di andare via. Tanto vale andare...
