Visited Ikigai many times with friends and family in the last 3 years and this has been my favorite place since the first dinner. This review is based on my most recent visit which was as good as the others. Atmosphere is amazing: nicely decorated restaurant, comfortable chairs, good lighting, pleasure for eyes.
Complementary prosecco just to start with. The wine list then it's international (Chilean, Australian and of course Italian) but my must have drink it's sake, served warm. I usually go through 2 bottles just for myself :)
The food then it's just short of amazing: Sushi, Nigiri, Grilled scallops, Wagyu beef tartare and more...but the Ramen cooked daily (I suggest to call and book it as they do just a few portions per day) it's DIVINE.
I have an international knowledge of sushi but the one we had at Ikigai it's second to none. I was initially put off by the Brazilian chef, however the fusion combination it's EXCEPTIONAL! Apparently the chef graduated/lived in Japan...and the Ramen it's certainly a testament to that.
When my kids come from Australia to visit us they need to pay multiple visits as they reckon this is the best sushi place they ever had even down-under.
The bill might look pricey but it's to be expected when fine dining a la cart, even though I understand they have an "all you can eat" formula that I never tried, possibly cheaper.
When unable to dine in due to Covid restrictions I had it take-away and even in those occasions the quality was outstanding.
I recommend pay at least one visit when in...
Read moreWe visited Ikigai twice during our 6 days in Castellammare. The interior was contemporary with a cosy ambiance. Excellent service from all the staff we interacted with. The food was well thought-out, innovative and cooked perfectly. We had the all you can eat for €25 and the price was a steal for the quality of the food. We loved the crunch of the hot roll fantasy. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Castellammare! The food was so good we didn't manage...
