Unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing.
Ambiance and Presentation: The restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere with a cozy, maritime-themed decor. The dishes are visually appealing and well-presented, which initially made us quite happy.
Food: The food is tasty and well-prepared, with a pleasant flavor. However, despite the good presentation and taste, the portions were quite modest and did not meet our expectations in terms of quantity.
Unpleasant Experience: The major issue arose when my wife found a piece of steel wool in her dish, likely from the dishwashing sponge. This incident could have caused a serious health issue if ingested. We spoke to the manager, but were surprised and disappointed by her response. She tried to downplay the problem by saying the piece was small, which made her apology seem insincere and disrespectful.
Service: In addition to the steel wool incident, the manager's attitude in handling the situation was unacceptable. Instead of acknowledging the severity of the issue, she tried to justify it, which only increased our frustration.
Despite the tasty food, our experience at "La Bettola del Pescatore" was ruined by a serious hygiene lapse and inadequate management response. To counter some of the poor reviews, please remember where you are. You are in a small coastal town in Italy, it is the Italian way to not bother your meal. You have as much time to finish as you want. You must flag down the wait staff most of the time in most restaurants here. We love that dinner has no pressure to scarf down your food as quickly as possible so they can replace you. If you are in a rush, you must express it. A meal is a true experience to be enjoyed, which is a lovely way to think about it. Also courses are served at different times. If you order a second course while others in your party order a main - you will not receive the food at the same time.
The food here was terrific, we had no issues with portion sizes, they were perfect to share and not over eat. Order a second course and a main and share with your significant other. Struttura minimal e piatti mediocri. Prezzi decisamente elevati vista la location e la qualità del cibo. Situata in un vialetto anonimo dove passava e spassava gente. Questa non è però la parte peggiore.
Come sottolineato da altri utenti, la titolare è veramente terribile. Ho ordinato un'impepata di cozze, dopodiché la donna si è presentata al mio tavolo dicendo che purtroppo le cozze erano finite e non era possibile soddisfare la mia richiesta. Il mio ragazzo decide di ordinare altro e nell'attesa del piatto, iniziamo a notare che TUTTI i tavoli attorno a noi avevano dei piatti di pasta PIENI di cozze. Anche quelli che avevano ordinato dopo di noi.
Chiamo la cameriera chiedendole nuovamente se le cozze fossero effettivamente terminate e la ragazza mi dice di si. Al che le chiedo cosa fossero quelle presenti nei tavoli degli altri commensali. La cameriera è rimasta imbambolata per qualche secondo, non sapendo cosa rispondermi. Chiedo il conto per toglierla dall'imbarazzo.
Paghiamo e andiamo via, comunicando al cassiere che la nostra esperienza era stata pessima.
Siamo stati letteralmente rincorsi dalla titolare che ha chiesto spiegazioni. Le abbiamo spiegato il tutto e lei ha provato a giustificarsi parlandoci sopra, alzando la voce e arrampicandosi sugli specchi. Le abbiamo anche dato una prova visiva delle falsità che stava cercando di farci bere. La verità signora, è che avrebbe guadagnato molto di più mettendo 6/7 cozze in un piatto di pasta, piuttosto che fare un'impepata colma di cozze!!!
La prossima volta le consigliamo di essere onesta con la sua clientela, in quanto la realtà dei fatti era ben visibile.
In conclusione, se avete intenzione di spendere tanto, mangiando poco, sarete accontentati. Altrimenti, meglio...
